POV Madison
I wasn't really bummed that we had to leave. On the contrary, I was actually kind of glad we were leaving. Everyone had packed their belongings in a backpack and we tried not to leave a trace. We sneaked through the halls while always keeping an eye out for the soldiers. I though back to our good times in the forests. Yes it was hard, and yes, the food here was a lot better. But it felt like a prison here, as if we were held captive. "I still don't really understand what the hell is going on!" Sam gritted trough his teeth. I was looking around the corner to see if we could pass. "I think they want us dead, that's what's happening." Hugo retorted. I nudged to Cain that we could go and I stepped forward. Swiftly I slid down under a glass window and carefully looked through it. I saw some colonels and captains yelling at each other. They were way too busy to notice us. I made a some hand gestures and everyone started crouching towards the exit. Brooke softly opened the door and held it open for the rest of us to pass. I was trying to hear what they were screaming about. I heard faint sentences like 'eliminate the remaining pair' and 'we must not let them get away with this', but understanding them is something I really did not do. I lastly went through the door and closed it as softly as I could. "Okay, so if we take the way through the lobby we will be outside in no time." Hugo pointed out. "But the chance that we'll be spotted is a lot higher if we do so." Sam said while checking his handgun for bullets. "Not to mention there are guards outside." "If we walk casually they won't notice." "In case you didn't notice, the general wants our heads on spikes! Of course we will be shot!" I looked from Hugo to Cain and to Brooke. "Let's split up." Hugo raised his eyebrows. "Nuh uh! Woman, have you ever seen one horror movie? People who split up, die!" I rolled my eyes at Cain and resumed with my plan. "Brooke and I could move through the lobby while you 3 idiots take the other way, through the training hall you know?" I looked at the boys who looked impressed with the plan I had come up with. "We'll meet at the forest line, if you get spotted Brooke can cover you." Satisfied with my plan a strapped my backpack a bit tighter on my back. "And why do you think you 2 won't get caught when you walk 'casually' through the lobby?" I looked at Sam. He had a point. "We are the only 2 girls here, if someone comes to close to us, we'll just start screaming. Then they have to let us go." I smirked at my own thoughts. Cain raised a brow. "Yhea right. Why don't we all just go through the training hall?" He wasn't really convinced of the plan. "It will attract to much attention. If a whole squad moves out at once? With backpacks? And armed? Cain u stupid." Brooke clearly liked my plan way better. "Okay girls, you go through the lobby and we'll go through the training halls. Goodluck." Hugo nodded at us and walked the other way. "But.. Why... What?" Cain looked from Hugo to us and back to Hugo. He let out a deep sigh and ran after the boys. "Oeh, girls mission. Yayha!" Brooke swung her arm around me and let out a yawn. I laughed at Brooke's weird face and tried to not make a sound while doing so. "Alright, focus now." She seriously said. I nodded and walked towards the lobby doors. When we got through the doors there was nothing strange happening. All the lads were eating or chatting. No alarms rang or guns were pointed at us, so I guess we were lucky. "Hey Brooke, Madison! Where are you goin'?" I turned around to see Micheal, one of the boys we met here, standing up from his table and looking at us. "We were told to scout the south part of the forest, someone said he heard some cranks there." I really hoped he would go with this answer, and just let it go. "With all that luggage? Are you going on a holiday or somethin'?" some boys laughed and he smirked at us. I pulled Brooke with me while smiling. "Yheaa, in a galaxy far, far away from here!" I cheered back at them. He yelled something else but we were to far gone to hear anything. "Damn, I was really afraid there for a minute!" I puffed. "Yup, I really thought that we were done." Brooke smiled while checking her watch. "Okay, let's get to the forest line." We were looking to get to the right side when we heard the lobby doors open. "Yes sir. They just passed by. Just that way sir. Scouting sir." A loud bang made my whole body jolt. "Shit! Mad go, go, go!" Brooke whisper-screamed. I ran towards the last exit and whacked open the door. The fresh smell of grass and air filled my lungs. "C'mon!" I coached Brooke and myself. We sprinted all the way over to the forest line and literally jumped behind some bushes. I whistled on my fingers in the hope to attract either Atlas or the boys. Brooke lay down and looked through the lens while slightly turning it. "Okay, I see 2 captains with some soldiers. They are looking around." She turned the lens again a tiny bit. "I've spotted the boys," she said relieved. "Good, any sign of Atlas?" Some ruffling through the leaves and a dog's panting answered my question. "Boii!" I happily petted him on his head. He lay down next to Brooke, he looked tired. Probably ran too much. Idiot. "Okay the boys are walking towards the west side." Brooke picked up her rifle and put it on her back. "We should do the same, we'll meet them there." I nodded while we listened to the sounds of the forest. "Okay, there is a light west wind so we can trust Atlas' nose for cranks. Maybe even for soldiers." Brooke hummed approving and we started walking west. Without noise we moved through the woods. Looking out for either cranks or soldiers. Swift, silent and steady. As we had always done. A total opposite of the boys. At 100 meters distance we could already hear them. They were rushing through the woods, like heavy hippo's, talking way to loudly and making way to much noise. I looked at Brooke and she knew my thoughts. She rolled her eyes and walked towards them. "They should be here!" "They probably already walked a kilometer further or something!" "Just keep going for a while." I let out a long deep breath. These boys knew nothing of stealth. I sneaked up from behind on Sam and put a knife to his throat. "You boys, are way too easy to kill." I said softly yet very clearly. I let him go and looked at Hugo and Cain who were totally mindfucked. "Y'all make way to much noise, c'mon let's keep moving." Brooke schooled the boys. Atlas came back running our way and ran a few rounds around the boys. I looked at him weirdly as he took off again. I raised my brows and looked at Brooke. "Eh, it's not my dog." She said jokingly. I laughed for a moment. We walked in silence for some time while Brooke and I got quite aggravated because of the boys making too much noise. Yet again. "So what now?" I asked at the group when we were resting. "I dunno." Hugo looked at Cain. "Any suggestions?" Cain raised his eyebrows while shaking his head. "No idea." I smiled. "What a bunch we are."
