Chapter 20

POV Brooke

We were back in the lobby. Madison and I were talking to the boys when Diaz entered. We were about to go to the local café (aka the cafeteria) and go have some fun. "Diazzz you in?" "In for what exactly Sam?" "Uhm well you know..." Diaz looked very stern. "What Sam was trying to ask you if you would like to go to the cafeteria with us and have some fun. It has been ages since we had a good time" "What you're trying to say is that my trainings aren't fun enough?" Cain scoffed "Wow hold up, cool it. What has gotten into you?" Diaz shrugged and waved it off. "I'll pass, tomorrow at 6 sharp at the gym. So don't have too much fun." "Guess that means we don't get to sleep in eh?" we laughed and walked towards the cafeteria. I went straight for the bar. "What can I get you guys?" Ted asked. "Three beers and ...?" "Two cocktails please" added Madison. She winked at me and I laughed. When we got our drinks I spotted a karaoke machine. "O my god, hell yeah. You guys are going to sing tonight" I ran towards the machine and started it up. I heard the boys groan. "Hugo, Sam and Cain humor us" yelled Madison. She pushed them towards the microphones and I started the song: 'if you wanna be my lover' from the spice girls. "This is going to be epic!" we both laughed our asses off whilst the boys were struggling with the lyrics and the dance. We clapped for them and yelled for an encore and many more songs were poisoned that evening.

By the end of the night the cafeteria was full with soldiers. "I didn't even know you played beerpong" some random kid yelled at me. "Well I didn't either, I'm nailing it tho" "Hun you know ur losing right?" "Shut ur face mad, I always win" she grinned and took my hand. "Lemme show you how it's done". I couldn't keep trach anymore so I went to look for the boys. Walking was a bit harder than expected but eventually I saw Sam dancing with another soldier and couldn't help it but smile at the sight of it. Hugo and Cain were talking and laughing. I walked as good as possible towards them. "Hey guys, havin' fun?" "Yeah looks like you had a bit too much fun ay?" "Never" I winked at them. I was listening to the conversation between the boys when I got a pad on my back. I turned around and saw Madison. "Maddieeee did ya win?" her face filled with triumph "Of course" "Mad we are so hammered, I think we should drink some water" "hmmm" she was leaning on the bar clearly drunk. "okay let me get us to bed, cuz we can't have our bigbadspanishboss be mad at us for being irresponsible." "hmmm, I think imma be sick brookiewookie" we went towards the bathroom and I held her hair back. "You are gonna be okay madselpretzel" Cain and Hugo came in the bathroom and saw us sitting there. "What the hell?" "Don't look so stupid, ya fuckin' wanker. Ur in the girls' room, get out" "Nope you guys are in the boys' room and clearly had too much to drink, let's get you to bed. Cain lifted Madison up and supported her while I grabbed Hugo's hand to pull myself up. "I think you guys exaggerated a bit on the too much to drink thingy" he laughed and supported me. "Thank you Hugo, you're actually pretty decent, besides the whole cocky attitude and stuff" he grinned. I heard Madison singing some random songs to Cain and saw him trying to silence her. "Mad stop, ur bein' annoying as fuck again" "Well you don't tell me what to do" "We are strong independent women!" I yelled to him. Hugo and Cain smirked and let us both go at the same time. We both slipped and fell. "Not so independent now are ya?" we looked angrily at the both of them but burst out in laughing.

Hugo tucked me in and left me and Madison alone in the dark room. "Goodnight Girl" "hmmmm yeah". The next morning, I would refuse to go out of bed at 5 in the morning. "Bloody hell, I am never drinking again" "Me too, goddamnit this shit hurts" Sam, Hugo and Cain laughed at us and threw us some painkillers and water bottles. "Better hurry, Cain is waiting" "Shut ur face Sam" he grinned and left to go to work. When Madison and I finally got to the gym it was 7 'o clock. Diaz was not happy. "35 push-ups, 40 sit ups, 30 pull ups. Don't make me add some rounds to it" Madison was swearing and I pulled her with me towards the back of the gym. When we were finally done we went back towards the boys. "Madison pair up with Cain now, may the best win. Watch your footwork. Hugo and Brooke you two get on that mat and may the best win." "Don't think I'm going to go easy on you" urgh can he get cockier? "Don't need you to"

Hugo had a few good punches on my face and body but I still wasn't down. He kind of did hold back, cuz if he had punched me with all he got I would have been down the first time he hit my ribs. "Your mom hits harder than that Hugo! Brooke, you seriously think your parents can look at you if you are fighting like this poor little girl! Madison I can't believe you aren't faster than this, you are useless! Cain you suck, your ego is bigger and stronger than you!" Diaz yelled insults at all of us but eventually I had enough. I was boiled up with anger. "ENOUGH. If you know it better get in this ring and fight me, if I win you shut the fuck up and leave us alone. If you win I will never interfere your 'training' like this again" everyone looked from me to Diaz. "Get 'm Brooke" Madison whispered. Diaz got up from his ass and got on the mat with me. "Rules?" "No rules, just no killing or serious injuries" he looked surprised by my answer. I was trying to find a pattern in his movements but he seemed to attack randomly, he didn't have any weak spots I could reach either. So I aimed for the balls, throat, knees and face. He did a karate kick and I dodged just in time. I was in a crouching position so I used it in my advantage. I rolled through his legs and pulled his legs from underneath him. He rolled aside and scoffed. "Playing dirty?" I rolled my eyes and stood up. He tried to swoop me off of my feet by making a long stride with his leg but I jumped over it and rolled on. I was with my back towards him but I heard him coming at me. I hoped it would work but I jumped and made a round off. I landed perfectly on my feet and Diaz was with his back to me now. In a split of a second I kicked him in the lower back held him in a headlock. He gave up a pretty good fight but I won't lose. He surprised me though. He rolled out of my headlock and punched me right in the face, I had to take a few steps back. "Ouch that didn't only hurt my face but also my ego" he smirked. "Brooke ya can take that bloody wanker" "Well your gymnastic skills are of no use here" "you sure 'bout that?" I made a cartwheel and jumped over him. In the moment I grabbed his shoulders and pushed him down with me. I kicked him in the stomach and placed a foot on his throat. "Ya done?" he just smirked. He grabbed my ankle and twisted it. I groaned, that hurt like hell. He just fk sprained my ankle that bitch. He tried to punch me in the face again whilst I was crouching. I grabbed his fist and twirled around him and pushed it against his back. Now he was groaning in pain. Sam came walking in and called it "IT IS A TIE NOW STOP YOU TWO IDIOTS BEFORE I HAVE TO PUT ONE OF YOU IN THE ICU!" we all turned our heads and saw Sam angrier than ever. I let Diaz go and started walking towards Madison. "Brooke look out!" Hugo yelled but it was too late Diaz already kicked me in my lower back and pushed me to the ground. "Never turn your back to your enemy. They will play dirty if they can't win. Now you're lucky I'm not your enemy." He let go of me and helped me get up. Sam rushed over to me and started to stabilize my ankle. "It's not that bad, Sam" "Your ankle must be healed by tomorrow, otherwise you probably won't make it back" "Sam I'm not going anywhere you fool" "He hasn't told you guys?" "Told us what exactly?!" Cain was getting irritated by the mysterious behavior. "Sam means that I haven't told you guys yet that you are going on a mission, but not with the whole team to have your back." We all turned to look at Diaz. "So this is why ya been actin' so damn strange?" "Madison calm it please. You are going with Cain on a scouting mission in Alabama. We believe there are doctors, soldiers and civilians there but it is swarmed with walkers too, make sure the doctors and soldiers get here safely and if possible the civilians too. As for Brooke and Hugo you are going to be stationed in Florida to infiltrate a secret building called 'the one headspace'. You must conquer it. It is of great importance that we have that medical facility in our hands. There is medicine there and some equipment we don't have here. Try to do it silently, without being noticed. I don't have any other teams to spare so I hope you guys will be fine on your own. Sam and I will be on a mission too, so if contact is needed you need to call the base."
