Don't wanna be torn

Chapter 20

I can barely stay awake during pre- calculus. Mrs. Sylvester keeps going on and on about problems that I'm not even familiar with. Sometimes it's like I'm paying attention and totally prepared for the class but I still sit there lost as can be. Still confused and failing.

I'm so ready for lunch after this. After all lunch is my favorite subject.

I'm stressing myself out. I need to find Daniel so he can tutor me again after school. Hopefully it won't be interrupted like the last time. Not that the last time was a problem really because I don't regret it but my education should come first after all.

The bell rings again indicating that it is time for lunch and class is over. I swear this bell rings so much as odd as this might sound , I kind of like it. I'm in the craziest positions sometimes and the bell saves me.

I hurry to gather all of my belongings as fast as I can so I can leave. When I'm half way out the door someone calls my name from beside me.

Lucas is standing on the wall beside the doorway. I assume he was waiting on me to come out. I turn around and smile from ear to ear and he does the same.

"What are you doing?" I say, surprised a little.

"Waiting for you, obviously." He replies back, as he walks towards me.

I begin to walk to the cafeteria with Lucas following by my side. I can already feel my phone vibrating because Hillary is most likely texting me to hurry up. I can feel Lucas begin to speed up and before I know it he is already ahead of me. I try to push through the crowd a little to catch up.

I see Lucas approach the cafeteria glass double doors then stop. I stand right beside him and wait for him to snap out of whatever he is doing right now.

"Uhm, what are you waiting for?" I ask him confused.

"You ready to show them what we are?" He says looking at me with a small smile slowly appearing across is face.

"Let's do it then!" I say not ready for whatever he is about to do that could end up being risky.

Lucas grabs my waist pulling me closer to him. He then lets go to grab my hand holding it and intertwining our fingers. He pushes the double doors and we walk through the cafeteria directly towards where Hillary is.

It gets so quiet when we walk in. Everyone's eyes are directly on us. I can already see a few people begin to whisper like always. This is different from the last time. We are in the cafeteria, the social spot where everyone is and the time to be open. The cafeteria is basically like half of the school, not the hallways. Their faces are all in shock that Lucas Gray really is blatantly showing people he is really in a relationship, a good one at that.

For some reason I am feeling kind of shy and in a spotlight for being with him. This is all so new to me. I honestly can't say I don't kind of like it though.

By the time we reach where Hillary is sitting Daniel has already picked his seat next to Hillary.

Daniel walks up behind Hillary and hugs her and give her a kiss on the cheek wrapping his arm around her shoulder.

"So...what did we miss?" Daniel says teasing us about the obvious.

"Well we are together now." I say, raising both of our hands that are still together.

"Awwiee! You two are so cute and sweet and just aww!" Hillary comments before resting her head on Daniels shoulders.

I look at Lucas and try to hold back on blushing but it's too late. I quickly look away and glance around the cafeteria at the buzzing people. I notice Rebeca and her clique standing in the corner glaring at me furiously. I turn my head and try not to make anymore eye contact with anyone.

"So are you two coming to my house Thursday for our yearly, stupid but fun games?" Daniels asks Hillary and I .

"No, uhh.. I didn't know anything about it. Why on a Thursday?"

"Come on Lucas what kind of a boyfriend are you for not telling her about this." Daniel teases.

"I forgot to mention it. Anyways you guys should come. I mean you don't have to participate if you don't want but just come and check it out." Lucas says.

"Isn't it getting a little cold for this?" Hillary asks.

"Yeah, but babe we are guys we don't care about stuff like that." Daniel remarks, while rubbing the bottom of Hillary's chin with his thumb a little.

The bell rings and everyone is quickly starting to vanish to go to their next class. All four of us stand up before we part ways.

"Oh yeah I forgot to mention...uhh the party Friday at my house. I expect to guys to be there." Lucas says to us.

"For sure!" Daniel replies back before kissing Hillary one last time then walking away.

When both Daniel and Hillary walk away. Lucas and I both hug and do the same.

As I am walking to exit the cafeteria my cell phone buzzes and I get a text from Lucas.

*LUCAS: Our secret place? Tonite?*

I am so ready for school to be over with now.
