Don't wanna be torn

Chapter 23

     I am so tired from studying with Daniel yesterday. After he tutored me I still went home to study more on my own as well.

As I'm sitting on my bed reading a book I found called, Evermore I here my phone buzz beside me.

I look over to see a text from Hillary
saying," I'll be there in ten mins..be ready."

I'm assuming she is coming to pick me up for Lucas and Daniel's silly games they do every year or so.

I don't know what to wear. I still have on my sweats, big t-shirt and doggy house slippers. Hillary could be here anytime now so I need to hurry.

    I get up to make my way over to my closet. I decide to wear on my navy blue hoodie and light blue jeans with the knee part ripped out. Then I put on my high top converse just because I'm so used to them and they go with just about everything I wear.

I don't know whether to put my hair in a ponytail or leave it all down. Just because I can't decide I leave it the way it is, all out and puffy.

    As I am looking myself in the mirror to fix myself up a little I here a car pull up in my driveway and someone beat the horn. I rush to grab my chap stick and iPhone before going downstairs trying not to fall over my own feet and leave my house.

As I'm walking towards Hillary's car I see her little head and long curly dark brown hair out the window with a huge smile.

  "Hurry up..your moving like a snail girl! We don't have all day!" I hear her yell.

I open the passengers door and get in breathing slightly heavy from all those steps then look at her.

"Wow, thank you for waiting patiently." I say sarcastically.
  
      She just looks at me and gives me a smile a long with a wink before backing out of my driveway. I can't help but to laugh back a little about how carefree she is sometimes and silly.

Hillary hooks her phone up to her car using Bluetooth and blasts Ed Sheehan the whole car ride to Lucas's house.

    As we pull up we see that there are very few cars here. Maybe everyone hasn't arrived yet.
We both get out the car at the same time to go in the house and look for them.

As Hillary and I are walking side by side we hear noises and laughter outside in the backyard. I slide the sliding glass door to see fewer people than I expected  along with Lucas and Daniel.

    When Lucas spots me he gives me a smile and makes his way over in my direction.

"Hey, I'm happy you came babe." Lucas says wrapping his arms around my waist.
  
     "So this is it? What do we do?" I ask while looking around.

I see Hillary has already walked away to sit on Daniels lap and show us all their PDA.

"You're about to find out." He says with a smirk then kisses my cheek before walking away and to gather everyone's attention.

    "Attention all guys! First round, split up into two groups. I have three buckets out full of mud in three different spots. Whoever finds the key in the bottom of one of these buckets to unlock the lock that is on this rope wins...simple!" Every starts to cheer after getting into their groups.

Lucas joins the one with Daniel in it. On the third count the whistle blows and everyone takes off and people are cheering and screaming.

      I begin to laugh at both teams because of their expressions of rushing impatiently with each other. Finally I hear Lucas and Daniels group yell covered in mud while one of them is holding the key.
