*Lillia’s POV*

Another song was starting. He had titled it “You Probably Couldn’t See For The Lights But You Were Staring Straight At Me.” It was long, but I liked it. It was real. I could see our memories becoming real in his songs. I knew it wasn’t just a coincidence; it just couldn’t be. I wasn’t sure what I would do, but I had to do something. For now, though, I would just settle in and enjoy another sweet memory.

A knock at the door. I looked through the peephole; there was Alex his hair shaggy as usual, some band’s t-shirt on with his worn leather jacket over, and his rugged jeans. It sent a shiver down my spine to even think of how beautiful he looked. I quickly opened the door and wrapped myself in his embrace as he leaned in for a kiss. “So, what are we doing tonight?” He hadn’t yet told me the plan, just that he wanted to hang out with me that night. “Uh, nothing really. My mates are headed down to the football field for the prank; I thought you might want to be in on it too.” He looked at me as if he was asking whether I did or not. “Yeah, yeah cool; let’s go.” I was in to that stuff back in high school, the pranks, the concerts, the parties, all that.

We headed down the usual way, but went past the school until we saw the white net goals. We parked and headed over to the bleachers. “They’ll be here in a few minutes.” Just as he spoke two black cars packed with five guys each sped around the field, but instead of parking they drove straight through the fence one at a time. I gasped and then immediately laughed as I saw them begin to drive in circles around the field, beeping and yelling at the same time. Alex put his arm around me and waved at them while chuckling. “I don’t know how they came up with this, but it’s gonna get them in heaps of trouble if anyone figures out it was them.”

*Alex’s POV*

I smiled seeing her so happy. She was looking gorgeous as usual, her hair flowing down her back, her eyes big and green, and her lips dark and perfect. I watched as the boys stopped their cars, and her perfect figure lifted from the seat and made its way down the bleacher steps to meet them. I followed, completely entranced in her beauty. All the guys piled out of the cars laughing and cheering, and I followed suit. Their eyes flew in to fixate on her, and I knew they thought just the same as me. “This her Alex?” Spencer, a mate of mine, motioned to her with a smirk on his face. “Yeah. Lillia this is Spencer, and that’s Jamie, Matt, Andy, Nick, Cole, Dev, Trey, Jordan, and Gray.” I said pointing to each of them as I spoke.

“Hey guys, nice to meet you.” I could tell she was excited to meet my mates. I couldn’t say the same for myself. It wasn’t that I didn’t think they’d get along or that I didn’t like them both, but I was pretty scared. I glanced at her again, how could anyone resist her? If my friends had any sense in girls, they would love her just as much as I did. “Alex” someone was whispering in my ear. “Alex” I couldn’t stop thinking about her, what if she liked them better? “Alex!” I snapped my head up; it was Andy. “You caught a good one, huh? How’d that happen?” He chuckled. “I don’t know man, but don’t you dare try and steal her. I’ve got it good for her.” He laughed again, harder this time. “Hey, mate, I won’t touch her, but I’m not the one you’ve gotta worry about.”

I was officially on edge. All the boys liked her; it was completely obvious. They couldn’t stop talking, showing off their skills to her. It was sickening. What could I do though? I was already acting competitive with them. I don’t even think she recognized their flirting, but it was definitely there. I wanted to just take her away from all of them, or maybe punch some of them out. It was infuriating. I couldn’t watch these guys hit on her, but it was just there way. They couldn’t stay away from a girl like her, even if they knew she was taken. I had to do something. “Hey, I’m hungry. How about we all hit up a pub?” I watched as they all agreed. Perfect. “Great, there’s a new one open near me, and it’s great. Lillia meet me by my car; I’ll give these guys directions and then we’ll go.” She nodded and hurried off. She was so happy. I would hate for one of my mates to take that from me.

“Listen guys, you’ve gotta get away from her.” They all looked at me with faked confusion. They knew exactly what I was talking about. “I saw you guys; don’t act stupid.” I could see their defeat in the matter. I had caught them. “Look, she’s perfect, okay? I think I might even love her, so please stay away. If you’re my mates then you will. She makes me happy, so don’t try and steal her.” I knew they understood. They might not all have known what this felt like, but they all knew how shitting getting a girl stolen from you felt. “And if any of you try anything, I’ll give you a beating.” They weren’t scared; I wasn’t that muscular, and even if I had been I wasn’t violent. Even so, they nodded their heads in agreement, and I gave them the directions. Everything was back on track.

*Lillia’s POV*

I waited by his car, reminiscing on all that had happened so far. It had been a great night, and his mates were hilarious. Alex walked up to me. “Hey, ready?” We hopped in, and he started his car. “Sorry those guys were all over you. Sometimes they can’t control themselves.” I was surprised. Had Alex’s friends been ‘all over me’? I hadn’t thought so. Guys didn’t really like me that much anyways, but I guess it was possible. Well, that was a self-esteem boost. I looked at Alex; he seemed worried. “I mean I hadn’t noticed, but if you say so.” I laughed then added “It doesn’t really matter; I still like you best.” I could see relief in his face. So he had felt threatened? That was adorable. I couldn’t help it; I leaned in and kissed him. He was surprised, but he kissed back, wrapping his arms around me. All I could think was that I was falling in love, and my god did it feel good.
