I walked with anger in my step back from Harry's office. Seriously? Did he have to pick Ashton? He might know I'm.... uh, not very fond of him.... did he do it to spite me?
That's crazy. Why would a boss assign a case to two people he can't trust that will work together? Especially a case if this amount of importance. I'm overreacting.
What does Ashton think about it?
"Hey! Carmen!"
Well look who it is; the devil himself.
"Hello, Ashton." I said, no emotion in my voice.
"So, partners on a case. That's a first," He said. I rolled my eyes, but he didn't see. "Shall we get to work?"
"Ashton, I have a question." I said, stopping us in our footsteps and turning to him. He nodded. "What do you feel about us being partnered?"
"Well, if I were him I would have done it too. I mean, with my technology and knowledge and your fighting, courageousness, and will? Great match. Why?"
"Oh, no reason," I said, finally seeing why. Harry only did it for the best of the case. "I was just surprised by the choice Harry made."
"Well, shall we get to work?" He said. I sighed, and nodded. "Where shall we work?" He asked.
I was ready to slap him after he used the work 'shall' so many times. "My office. I think very well there, and I have supplies ready for the case."
He nodded and let me lead the way. He could have led the way if he wanted; he visits my office every day. I'm guessing that he is letting me because he is a polite person, despite his annoyingness.

"So did Harry let you in on anything?" He said.
I nodded. "Quite a bit; as much as he really could, anyways. He talked to me a few hours ago, and gave me this file." I slapped the file on my desk, pulling out a few of the contents and laying them in front of him. "Harry told me a few things, and he said that they may or may not be connected, which we need to remember." He nodded, and I pulled out a mug shot from the folder and showed it to him. "This is Zayn Malik. Prisoner; I led him to his cell when he was arrested. He escaped his locked cell last week, and we have no idea where he was."
Ashton nodded. "What did he do?"
I thought for a minute. "I don't remember if Harry told me or not." I sighed and picked up another picture. "This is Liam Payne. He is a police officer that works here in the city." I took the next picture. "This is Niall Horan. Remember him? He's our co-worker. I worked with him on my first case."
"Yeah, I know him," He said. "Our offices were close together before he moves up in the ranks."
"Yeah. Anyways, the final is Louis Tomlinson. We don't know much about this man; Harry said he isn't connected to us at all, but might have been to Niall or Liam."
"What do these men have to do with all this?" Ashton said, laying all the pictures on the folder.
"They all went missing two days ago, every disappearance an hour apart."
Ashton nodded. "How is Zayn included?"
"We think that he might have been in on taking them, the men, I mean. Niall and Liam both caught Zayn, and we think Louis might have helped. But we aren't sure. Ashton, we have a lot of work to do."
He nodded and pulled out his own folder, handing mine back to me. "Forgot I had this," He murmured.
"It says here that the only location that is known to be related is some warehouse," He said, reading a paper. "How do we find it?"
"That's what I think we should do first, including interviewing those who knew the suspect and the victims. The people we are starting with and the only people involved with the 4 men are...... on a paper, somewhere." I said, searching through the file. "Ah, found it. First on the list is May Payne, Liam's wife. She says that she last saw him before he left for work that morning, and the station says he did clock out on time. So he disappeared on his way home." Ashton nodded, and I moved on to Niall. "Nina McIntire, Niall's girlfriend, last saw him the night before when they went on date. She also spoke to him on the phone three hours before his disappearance on the phone, and said that nothing seemed wrong. But I think that we can pull some more information out of them."
Ashton nodded. "Who is connected to Louis and Zayn?"
"I do think that Zayn might have been in on a gang, and Louis might have been too," I said, using my knowledge from past cases. "I once worked on a case that involved a gang here in the city, and the names seem familiar. Maybe I spoke to them or someone who knew them," I said. "Those we will have to work on, but maybe May and Nina can give us the right information. Maybe they'll even let a gang name slip."
He nodded. "We have a lot of work to do." He paused. "It says another man is involved.... who?"
"Harry refers to him as 'The Second Identity,' and no one knows who he is. No lead, no names, nothing on who that person may be. All we know is that they are involved and covered their tracks extremely well."
"Wow," He said, staring at the file. "So, what shall we do first?"
I sighed at his use of the word 'Shall'.
"Do you have a cell phone on you?" I asked. "I've got a few calls for you to make."

So, a little review of the info known on the case and names of the ladies. By the way, I felt that I shouldn't use the real girlfriend's name because I just don't think I'd be able to write their characters very well, so I like to make my own. Hope you understand!
I'm going to start doing questions of the post, maybe, if I remember :)
