Carmen
"That is bullshit!" Harry snapped, looking at me over his desk. "Why would you go there for that gang? They have most likely moved by now, and that wasn't even the last place that they were seen."
"Then where were they last seen?" I said, trying to control my temper.
"I don't even know if I should tell you," Harry said, narrowing is eyes and staring at me. "Because I don't think you two should be going after that gang.""Harry!" I said, my temper starting to get out of hand. "I WENT AND SAVED A TOTAL OF 5 WOMAN FROM THAT GANG! YEAH, IT WAS EXTREMELY HARD BUT I AM READY NOW. I UNDERSTAND WHAT TO DO AND I EXPECT YOU TO TELL ME EVERYTHING I NEED TO KNOW!" I slammed my fist on his desk.
"Well, Carmen," Harry said. "I don't think you should behave that way."
"Well, too bad, Styles." I said. "Now tell me before I get so angry I trash this office."
"Fine, fine," He said, putting his hands up in defense. "I'll check. But I can't believe you are doing this. It's purely a suicide mission!"
I pretended I didn't hear that last sentence.
There was something in his eye, like he knew something I didn't. Like he was keeping valuable information from me and Ashton. He's up to something; I know it. I can feel it.
And I don't like it.
"They were seen in the old abandoned parking garage across the city," He said. "On the street full of abandoned buildings, including the one you thought was where they were last seen." He smirked, enjoying how he took the chance to taunt me.
I didn't thank him. I nodded and stood up, walking to the door. I turned around and sent him a death glare, and he smirked.
I walked out the door, slamming it shut on the way out.

"Are you ready?" I said, after double checking that we had everything we needed.
"No, but I guess as ready as I'll ever be." Ashton said, taking a deep breath as he zipped up his black jacket.
We waited to go until it was late, so we were hidden in the large shadows of the small amount of remaining light. And if we were caught, black might help us pass as gang members. Ashton, anyway; I was to pose as Ashton's 'girl' so that no one else would take me.
We had no choice when it came to The Periculum; protect yourself as much as you can or wish that you did.
"You have your gun?" I asked, instinctively placing my hand on the hidden pocket inside my jacket where it was hidden. Ashton placed his hand on his pocket and nodded.
"Do you have the ammunition?" I asked. Again, Ashton nodded, and threw me an extra pack to place in the secretive pocket.
"I don't know about this, Carmen." Ashton said, putting his hands in his black jeans pocket. "I don't know if I'll handle it well."
"You're going to have to, Ashton," I said, grabbing the last of our items. "I need you to be brave right now. I know this situation is extremely daunting, but you're going to have courage today."
Ashton nodded and we walked out of my office, taking the shorter way to the parking garage of the building. If only the parking garage we were going to was as safe as the one we were going to.
I turned on the ignition and pulled out of the parking spot.
"Carmen?" Ashton asked. "How do you do that every day?"
"Do what?" I asked, putting the car into drive, and pulling forward.
"Be brave," He said. "Like you are every day. Every day you take your case head-on and you aren't afraid at all. How do you do it?"
"I'm really not," I said, sighing. "One day I was scared. I was every day. But then I realized something my entire life and its situations were trying to tell me; if I wanted to be the strong woman I wanted to be, I needed to be brave. I needed to take it head on. We are all brave, Ashton, but the imminent darkness that is labeled 'fear' takes over," I said. "It's hard to prevent it to take over."
"I must be the only person on Earth who isn't brave," Ashton said, leaning his head on his seat. "I'm a coward; a pathetic excuse for a man."
"You aren't a coward," I said. "Fear is just a bitch."
He laughed, looking out the window.
How could he say I'm brave?
I'm not brave at all; how could he say that? All he sees is the mask I put on everyday; the one that hides all my doubts and fears.
He wouldn't understand why, or how that mask was built. How the mask that masks all my fears and insecurities was slowly built over the course of my life, ever since I was born. How every event and fearful situation was just another piece of the creation.
He would not understand.

"Carmen?" Ashton asked. "Where are we going, again? You never told me what Harry said."
"Well, he laughed in my face," I scoffed. "Because we believed in the police station. That that abandoned building they told us about was where they were. He said its actually in the parking garage down the street from it. He laughed in my face, and called us idiots."
"Wonderful boss, isn't he?" Ashton said, rolling his eyes.
I nodded, smiling a bit as I parked a block away from the building. I took a deep breath and put a hand in my jacket; the gun was still there.
"Here we go," Ashton said, getting out.
"Stay quiet," I said, walking lightly and slowly to the road.
We slowly made our way to the building, where I heard something inside. Music; rap, to be exact, playing from inside. I could smell liquor and weed from here, and it made me scrunch my nose in disgust.
I heard something behind us.
I whirled around, gun in hand and pointing forward. No one was there.
I inched toward the wall behind us and slowly walked along it. I turned left, having Ashton follow me, to find another way inside. To get in unnoticed.
"OI!" I heard someone scream, and I whirled around, in sync with Ashton. Both of us had our guns up,
No one.
We turned back around, but were confronted.
"Don't move." A deep voice said, who had a huge gun pointed at my chest. Another man had one pointed at Ashton, and others surrounded us.
My breath hitched in my throat as I realized just who we had run into.
We had run into MS13, the most dangerous gang in New York City.

MS 13 does exist, by the way. Did my research; known as the most dangerous gang in new York city, responsible for tons of crimes, including murder.
What's going to happen to Carmen and Ashton?
Maybe Harry was right; was it a suicide mission?
