James settled down on his couch while turning on the TV. His best friends jumped on the couch next to him. "What's on the TV?" Alexander asked, yawning lazily.
"Look," Chad said.
"No, I'd rather not," Alexander said and his friends chuckled. James was staring intently at the TV screen.
"Guys, be quiet and look at the TV," he said to his bickering friends.
"What is it?" Bert asked.
"Battle Of The Bands," James said. "They're letting bands join now."
"And we care how?" Aaron asked.
"Well, we like singing and are pretty good at it, if I do say so myself," James said.
"And?" Chad said.
"I wanna join," James suddenly said.
"I agree," Alexander said. He read the TV commercial and said, "We need at least three people in our band to join."
"Well, I'm in," Bert said and Alexander and James nodded.
"I'm in too," Aaron said.
"Well, since you all are in it, I'll join as well," Chad said. "Where do we sign up at?"
"Um, it said to go to their website," Bert said.
"What was it?" James asked, grabbing his laptop.
"It's www.battleofthebandstv.com," Aaron said. James typed that in and the website popped up.
James read it and he grinned. "It's easy," he said. "We just have to submit a video of us doing a cover to a song."
"Well, what song are we doing?" Alexander asked.
"How about Grenade by Bruno Mars," Chad suggested.
"Ooh, good idea!" Bert said.
"Let me just print the music for the drums, guitars, and the singers," James said, tapping at his computer. Soon, he had them printed and handed them out. Chad and Alexander were the lead singers, Bert was the drummer, and Aaron and James were the guitarists.
"Maybe we should practice the song before taping us," Bert said when Aaron reached for the video camera.
"Good idea," Alexander said. "I feel a little rusty."
James nodded and he walked over to the guitar case. The guitarists grabbed their guitars while Bert sat down at his drum seat. "Here, let's listen to it first," Chad said, going on James' laptop.
"Fine," James said. Chad clicked play and the song started playing. They listened to the song, humming along. Soon, the song was over.
"You good now?" Alexander asked.
"Yeah. Let's practice before we actually video us," Chad said.
"What do we even say on the video?" Aaron asked.
"They say just to say what the band name is, our names, and what song we're gonna sing," James said, reading it off the laptop.
"Well, what is our band name?" Bert said.
"How about Light Square?" Chad asked.
"Let's come up with some more and then we'll narrow them down," Alexander said, being the sensible one. They came up with a couple more. "We have Light Square, Male Is Trouble, Golden Snobs, Seventh Words, and Total Warning."
"Well, the only two I like is Seventh Words and Total Warning," James said.
"Same," Bert said, nodding.
