"What did she say?" James asked Bert.
"She has a boyfriend back at home," Bert replied.
"Ooh," Chad said. "Drama."
Aaron hit his arm. Bert walked to him room, leaving the four boys alone. "Is he going to be okay?" Alexander asked.
"No clue," James said. "He's never had a girlfriend before. Or even talked to pretty girls like her."
"None of us have had girlfriends before," Aaron said.
The boys nodded. "Maybe," James said after awhile, "we should do something in the morning that will cheer him up."
"What?" Chad asked.
"Make his favorite breakfast," Alexander suggested.
"Listen to his favorite music," Aaron suggested.
"Sing to him," James said.
"That sounds boring," Chad said. "Maybe we can watch his favorite show. Or contact his old crush from high school."
"He had a crush in high school?" Aaron asked.
"Yeah," Alexander said.
"Who?" James asked.
"Chloe Lynch."
"Oh, the quiet shy girl," Aaron said nodding. "She was kinda cute, in a nerdy way."
"Maybe we shouldn't do that," Alexander said. "Bert likes Oakley now and that would just mess things up."
"You're right." They were silent, wondering what they could do.
"Maybe we should sleep on it," James suggested.
"Good idea."
They all went to their rooms, each trying to think of something to cheer up their best friend.

The sun shone through the windows, waking James up. He rubbed his eyes to see Bert rolling a cart in their room. He could see something steaming on it. "Wakey wakey!" Bert said loudly. "It's breakfast time! First come, first serve!"James stared at Bert in confusion. "We have a long day ahead of us," he said. "And breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so get up!"
James sat up in bed and said, "You okay dude?"
"Of course," Bert said while frowning. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"Just wonderin'," James said. All the other boys got up and got ready. "Hey, what's the time?"
"Six thirty." The other boys stared at Bert in shock.
"What do we have to do today?" Aaron asked, rubbing his tired eyes.
"Well, others are gonna perform tonight and we're gonna see who's in the bottom two," Bert said.
"That's it?" Chad asked.
"Yep."
Bert grinned at them. "Anyway, we gotta prepare for the next performance of ours."
"When's that?" Aaron asked.
"Next week," Bert told him.
"Then why are we up early?" Chad asked, raising his eyebrows. "I can be sleeping right now!"
"Same!" James said.
Chad fell back onto the couch, groaning and rubbing his eyes. He grabbed his phone and checked his texts, to see if he had any texts from home.
James laid down next to him and Aaron crawled on top of them. "Goodnight," he said to no one in particular.
"Could you get off me?" James asked.
