The sun was shining trough the net on the roof of the tent. Nate was against my shoulder.

I sat up slowly, not to disturb him. His hair wasn't extremely long at this point but it was longer and it started to do a swoop at the front and sides. It made him look.. amazing.

I never thought I would be here. Not just physically, but mentally. My father.. he wouldn't have either. List of all the people I've disappointed.

I could bet that Ellie was still asleep. She had the watch after I did.

Nate shifted and then his eyes peered open.

"What time is it?" He asked

"Sorry, my watch is broke"

"You don't even have a watch"

"Oh that must be it" I said laying back. Nate snuggled up on my shoulder.

"Nate..."

"Yeah?" He asked

"Do you think of where they are?"

"Where who are?"

"Damarion, Alyssa, Sarah, Teresa, and that little boy"

"Eric you mean"

"Yeah.."

"I don't like too.. maybe they are somewhere safe, waiting for us"

"I think they didn't make it.."

"Why would you?" He asked

"Because That's the more likely outcome" I said

I sat up and grabbed my shoes. I laced them up and then climbed out of the tent.

I went to the car to grab a cab of food for breakfast.

"Hey Mr. Cynical"

"Yeah" I said turning around. As I did, my lips hit Nate's.

He pushed into it. So soft.

"I don't care how cynical you are, you asked and I said it, so at least you can see the other side"

"The smaller percentage"

"Sometimes you bet on the smaller percentage, gives yourself hope" Nate said

I didn't respond. He was kinda right.

"Well then let's bet on who gets to take the tent down"

-2 hours later-

We got in the car after I took the tent down and we got all the stuff in the back.

"We should take interstate 90"

"You want to take the longest interstate in the country?" I asked

"It'll bring us real close if we do"

"Ok then let's do that" Ellie said

"What's that?" I asked coming to a halt.

Hey guys I finally updated.

This part was extremely short but the next few will have much more in them.

If you don't know where they are now they are just outside of New York.
