Friday night. Rileys in bed, she's never in bed this early. She's just lying there, looking at nothing, feeling nothing. Maya comes in from the window.
Maya - Okay does this look good? And how's my hair. I should have just kept it natural huh?
Maya - Riley? Why are you in bed it's 7?
Riley - I didn't feel so good when I came home, I just needed to lay down for a bit.
Maya - Are you feeling better?
Riley - Yeah.
Riley - I think you look great Maya. Don't worry about it too much, just be yourself. Anyone would be lucky to have you as a date.
Maya - Thanks Riles.
They smile at each other. Maya jumps into bed with her for a second
Maya - You know that I love you right?
Riley - always?
Maya - Always.
Riley - Now go, you don't want to keep him waiting. Have fun and be nice would you.
Maya - I ain't making any promises.
She smiles at Riley as she leaves the room. Riley decides she can't stay in her room, not tonight. For some reason, tonight didn't feel safe. Ironic isn't it. Riley Mathews didn't feel safe in a place that she once believed was the safest place. She texts her mom that she's going to be staying the night at Maya's, she grabbed some things and headed out the window. She walks around for a bit and finds herself at a park. Her favorite park, the one that no one knew about but her. Riley and Maya had their bay window, this park was Rileys bay window.
