The next day, you see Barry waiting by your locker again as you walk into school.

“Y/N! Hey!” He greets you, jogging over to you before walking with you.

“Hey Barry, what’s up?”

“Oh, you know. Not much.” You reach your locker, Barry leaning against one nearby, watching you put your books away.

“What are you looking at?” You laugh, noticing Barry’s gaze.

“Just the most beautiful girl in the school,” he smiles cheekily, seeing the blush forming on your cheeks. You hear sets of footsteps coming down the hall, nearing you and Barry.

“Allen, let’s go! Morning practice!” one of them calls as they pass, another ruffling Barry’s hair.

“Gotta go.” He comments awkwardly, leaning forward slightly to give you a kiss on the cheek. “See you tonight.” He walks off, turning back to smile at you before disappearing into the crowd.

“Y/N!” Your friend, Y/F/N, comes up to you, grinning broadly. “Was that Barry?” She leans in close, whispering like Barry was nearby, listening in.

“Yes,” you laugh at your friend’s excitement. “That was Barry.”

“He’s cute,” she nudges your arm, making you blush.

“Yes, he is. I’ve got a date with him tonight,” you comment offhandedly, trying not to make a big deal of the subject.

“Y/N, why didn’t you tell me? Where are you going? What are you going to wear?” She begins peppering you with questions as you shut your locker and start walking to class.

“I’m going to his lacrosse game tonight, and we’re going to go out to dinner afterwards.” You tell her. “It’s nothing fancy.”

“What are you going to wear?”

“Jesus, Y/F/N, it’s not even 8 yet. Can we talk about this later?”

“Fine. I’m coming over after school to help you pick out your outfit.” You sigh, laughing lightly, knowing it’s better to just agree with Y/F/N, there’s no getting out of this one.

The day seems to drag on forever, your thoughts continuously drifting back to Barry and your date tonight. Y/F/N had gotten into your head, making you worry about tonight. What if you dressed up too much? Or too casual? What if you made a fool of yourself? Was Barry going to want to go out with you again? Would you have to stop tutoring?

The doubts were flicking through your head as you walked to your next class. Your eyes were cast down, your body moving following the path taken countless times before while your mind rests somewhere else.

“Y/N!” a voice cuts through your thoughts, and you cast your eyes around you, finally settling on Barry, grinning broadly and waving at you. You smile, returning the wave before getting swept along in the crowd. Maybe you really shouldn’t worry about tonight.
