"Hello miss O'Neil, I'm Dr Monin and I'll be performing your first ultrasound scan today." A young woman with bright blue eyes informed me, gesturing for Casey and I to follow her into the room.
"Lie down here for me would you sweet heart," Casey helped me down onto the blue bed she had pointed to, before sitting down on a chair next to me, holding my hand for reassurance.
"Ok, Now I'm going to rub this gel on you tummy. It might be a bit cold at first but that's completely normal so nothing to worry about ok."
I nodded, watching as she gently massaged the gel onto my stomach, before taking out an ultrasound and pressing it on my bump.
On the screen where my four tiny babies, huddled together, breathing as one. A single tear escaped my eye, rolling down my cheek, as I saw them for the first time.
"So, here we have baby A," Dr monin smiled, pointing towards the first.
"And here's B, C and..." She hesitated, staring closely at the screen, raising her eyebrows in concern.
"Is something wrong?" I asked fearfully, dreading the worst.
She turned to back to me, giving a small, reassuring smile.
"Not Yet, it's just an irregular heartbeat at the moment but I fear it could develop into something worse...."
