"So, Karma," Nagisa began, it was the day before Valentine's day and he wasn't sure about what to do. He wanted to make Karma feel welcome, but, was giving him some chocolate going to be too much? Perhaps he shouldn't....right? But then again...he really did want to make some chocolate for him. Why was this such a difficult question to ask? All he needed to know was if the guy even liked chocolate. That's it. Just that. Nothing more. It should be simple, right? Wrong.
"Mm?" Karma answered, he was too busy thinking about the ducks in the water to pay much attention to what the blue-haired boy had said. They were fascinating ducks. Beautiful. Wonderful. But most importantly, they were attacking each other and it was hilarious to watch.
"Do you like chocolate?" Nagisa managed to blurt out. Karma turned his head to look at the male, wondering where that had come from. He'd forgotten that Valentine's Day even existed, and was pretty confused. So, as he leaned against the railing on the bridge in that park, and stared at the male next to him, he just blurted out the truth without much thought.
"Nah, not really, chocolate is kind of gross by itself," he said. Nagisa lowered his head, distraught with that answer. Guess he wasn't going to be able to make some chocolate for the guy, now what? Valentine's Day was the perfect chance to get your feelings across to someone! Sure, he was a guy, and he'd only known the red-head for a few days, but that wasn't stopping him from having a huge crush!
Noticing Nagisa's reaction, Karma instantly felt a bit guilty. Why was this always happening? He shouldn't be feeling guilty over this guy! Letting out a small sigh, Karma turned his attention back to the ducks, "But I don't mind chocolate flavored things. Like chocolate cake, ice cream, cookies, and whatever."
Hope found its way back to Nagisa. He smiled happily, ecstatic for the news that he still had a chance. He would have to stop by the store on his way home to pick up ingredients. Karma glanced to his side, a bit confused at the sudden change in his behavior. Nagisa was lucky this male didn't care about the holidays too much, or he would have suspected him already.
The two went their separate ways, Nagisa skipping with every step. This was brilliant, wonderful, fantabulous, things were looking good for him. Dropping by the familiar convenience store, he was grateful to find the right ingredients in such a run down place. Luck was on his side, except for the fact that while he walked up the sidewalk to his house, he remembered how his mother hated it when he didn't come straight home. Sighing, he let his hair down, unlocked the door, took off his shoes, and tried to come up with a good excuse about why he neglected to come home right away.
"Nagisa? Is that you sweetie?" she said. Nagisa sighed, relieved, so she was in a good mood today.
"Yes Mom, I'm here," he said walking into the house, "I stopped by the park and the store on my way back. I'm sorry for being late."
"Oh you're fine sweetie," she smiled, placing her hands on Nagisa's cheek, "what did you need to get?"
Nagisa blushed and looked to the side, "I'm going to make some cookies for someone...for Valentine's Day."
"Oh?~ Did my little girl get a crush?" she smiled, "I'm so proud! I hope he accepts! Do you want some help?" she offered, clapping her hands together in glee.
Nagisa, used to the fact that his mother would refer to him as a girl, nodded. He kind of wanted to do something with her, and since they were doing something feminine like baking cookies for a crush, she wouldn't snap at him, probably. It would be one of the few times they could have a nice moment together.
The evening continued and the cookies were created. His mother had even helped him make a cute package for them. Smiling, the two admired their hard work, which also included a very dirty kitchen. Nagisa looked at the time, he had to go to bed now or he'd be dead tired tomorrow.
