Individuality Might Break Us All

To compare is to kill,
Mentally if you will.
A weight on the heart
That will give you insecurities a head start.
This I don't doubt for I have felt it myself.
A voice, a face, a body, a race.
I have compared myself beyond repair.
I accumulate my flaws,
Build them up like unbreakable walls.
I use them as a shield now.
There lay only one door.
Escape is rare now,
For there live many halls.
Flaws I can't fix, and flaws I don't want to.
Flaws I will fix and flaws that continue to brew.
But these flaws will never break me, unless I compare.
Compare myself to others.
Compare myself to them.
