A few days had pasted since our trip to Diagon Alley. Things between me and Snape hadn't changed much but I didn't mind not really. I wondered if McGonagall was ever coming back for me but didn't mind much if she didn't in all honesty I enjoyed my time here. I read quietly the books i had been given i particularly liked reading Hogwarts:A History, it detailed everything you needed to know about the school, I found it quite fascinating. Snape spent most of his time in the kitchen, making potions, sometimes if I was allowed he'd let me chop the ingredients, we wouldn't talk much but I enjoyed it none the less.

Meow. I still couldn't believe that Snape allowed me to get a cat although it was more a kitten saying it was only four months old.

***FLASHBACK***

"Well which one do you want?" Snape asked me , impatiently tapping his foot.

"I'm not sure any" I replied too scared to decide myself. What if he won't allow me to get the one I want? I'm not setting myself up for disappointment. I looked at the kittens in front of me they were all so cute, then one caught my eye it was smaller than the rest it's grey fur stripped, I knew it was for me. The way it softly purred when I touched it, I couldn't contain my smile.

"I guess we've found the one you want" Snape said eyeing the grey tabby I was currently stroking, I simply nodded my head to let him know I did want it.

The next thing I knew Snape had a cat carrier in his hand, the rest of the shopping was sent home as we had no way of being able to carry more. I watched as the shop keeper came and put what was now my kitten in the carrier. "Do you have a name for him?" He asked a stack of paper appeared in his hand with a feather. How odd writing with a feather.

"Er....hmmmm" I said as I thought of what to call him. Then as if it was the most obvious thing ever I had the name "Toby".

***End Flashback***

Snape didn't seem to like him too much. But then he didn't seem to like anything much. I loved hi though when I woke up during the night after a horrible dream I found him lying at my feet on top of the covers it was nice to feel like I was being protected.

"Primrose" I heard Snape call from the bottom of the stairs. I got up of the bed placing my book on the nightstand next to it and walked towards the door Toby rolling about my feet as I walk.

"Come on then" I said with a soft smile gathering him up to carry him down the stairs. Once at the bottom I placed him down and walked into the kitchen where I found Snape spent most of his time. "You called me, sir?"

"Yes Professor McGonagall has sent me an owl asking if you would wish to join her at Hogwarts." There was something odd with his tone it wasn't the same bored tone he normally used no this was different but I couldn't figure out what it was. "I understand if you wish to join her I shall send her an owl telling her to expect your arrival -"

"I don't want to go" I said not really processing what I had just said. Did I want to stay here? Truth was I felt sorry for him even though we barely talked I was still company if I left he would have no one and he was starting to grow on me in some odd way.

"Excuse me?"

"Sorry sir I didn't mean to interrupt you it's just I like staying here." He probably thinks I'm mad I thought as I seen him looking at me like I had two heads.

"Very well I will inform her." He said leaving me alone in the kitchen. Toby meowed and rubbed up against my leg I leaned down and stroked his back he purred and closed his eyes I laughed to myself.

"Well Toby looks like you and I will be here for quite a while." I sighed standing up I walked over to the cauldron bubbling over the stove and looked at what Snape had be brewing before I came down. I quite like potions, how adding simple ingredients together can create something completely more powerful. 'Dreamless sleep' was the name of the potions he had been brewing I read what it said:

Dreamless Sleep

dreamless sleep in the drinker and aids recuperation

Should have a purple colour.

It be good if I could have some of that I thought to myself. "Primrose here now!" I walked through to the small sitting room to find that he was not just himself anymore. An old man, thin and tall, stood in the middle of the from, his long silver hair and beard glistening from the candle-lit chandelier.

"Ah, Primrose so lovely to see you again." The old man said with kind blue eyes. Again? When had we met before I wondered walking into the room. "Alas I'm sure you don't remember me!" He exclaimed walking over to the couch and sitting down. "Please dear take a seat," he nodded his head towards the armchair Snape normally sat at. I decided to stay put and simply shock my head. "my name is Albus Dumbledore, I am headmaster of Hogwarts. Tell me dear do you know anything of Hogwarts?"

"I...er...only the things May-I mean Professor McGonagall told me in her stories." I explained.

"Well as you are a witch you will be aware that you will be attending Hogwarts however there is the small matter of you appearing to be homeless as Professor McGonagall informed me."

"Headmaster the girl has been staying with me." Snape finally spoke making me aware of his presence.

"Yes but that is not the question Severus what will happen to her during the holidays obviously she can stay at the school however we can not keep a student over summer." He stated calmly as if he was floating in his own bubble. "She could stay here with you however Severus."

Was that man mental? Stay here with him for a full summer? I looked round to see the same calm and collected face on Snape. "Very well." was all he replied. I didn't know whether to think it nice of him to let me stay or feel as if somehow Dumbledore had forced him into keeping me why else would someone want me to stay. "Primrose go check on my potion." He said in a dull tone. " I have matters to discuss with Professor Dumbledore." I nodded and left the room with Toby following close behind.

---Snape---

"Headmaster you must know I can't let her stay here."

"Ah, but Severus she can and she will unless we can find her muggle parents." He replied looking at me doubtfully I knew what he was referring to however.

"What if she finds out?"

"Then she will be happy to know that her father loved her as much as he did that he gave her away for a better life." Dumbledore said standing up and walking over."no matter how things turned out that is what you intended to happen you couldn't control what happened to her."

"But I could have." I replied bitterly slumping down on my armchair.

"Very well Severus if you wish Primrose to stay somewhere else I shall seek her a new home if that is what you truly want."

"No she will stay however she must not find out I am her father I won't allow it."

"As you wish Severus" Dumbledore said as he stepped into the fireplace and vanished in a cloud of green leaving me standing staring at where he once was.

"Sir!" I heard her call from the kitchen "I think it might be ready it's purple."

"Ah yes it is" I said after entering the kitchen and looking into the cauldron "I suggest you take one a night."

"Excuse me?"

"For your night terrors" I replied before turning and leaving the room once again muttering "silly girl" under my breath. I heard her footsteps as she walked back to her room leaving me once again in the fimiuar loneliness I was used to.
