A/N thank you to the wonderful people that have given me votes for this story I really appreciate it :) For those that have been reading this longer you may have wondered why I changed her middle name, the main reason is it works better in the story, but you'll need to wait to further on to know why I did that. I hope you's enjoy and please don't be scared to comment seriously it's not going to bite :L also please excuse the chapter name I suck at naming chapters :L
-----Snape------
I had noticed Primrose was not her usual self, she didn't interrupt me once during class. Halloween was slowly approaching and she had not uttered a single word during class -not that I really cared- but I had been wondering what was the cause for her sudden change. Sure before she had been very quiet but when she arrived at Hogwarts she had changed and now it seems she has became the same turtle with her neck stuck in her shell.
"Can anyone tell me the three key ingredients used for an antidote of common poisons?" I drawled ignoring Granger's waving hand. "Nobody pity...how about you Miss Stewart?" I asked catching her in a dream like state, I walked striaght in front of her and looked down. "Miss Stewart it would be in your best interest to sleep at night and not waste my time" she jumped at the harsh sound of my voice "the three key ingredients used for an antidote of common poisons."
"A bezoar, mistletoe berries and unicorn horns." She replied without a second thought, I had to try hard to suppress the smile that would have crossed my face had I allowed it. She didn't have to even pay attention and she knew the answer.
"And please do tell me what the ingredients you will need for a cure for boils potion?"
"Six snake fangs, dried needles, four horned slugs and two porcupine quills." She answered as if it were a natural response, as if ur where her simply answering with her name.
"And what is the dangers if the potion is not brewed right?" I anted to see how much she knew I knew it was only a simple first year potion but it did quite amaze me that she could say the answers without so much a a thought.
"The cauldron must be removed from the heat before adding the porcupine quills"she started to explain "if not the cauldron will most likely melt and create a rather horrible odour, or if it spills it can create vicious boils to erupt on your skin."
"Well today that is exactly the potion you will be making try not to harm yourself" I stood for a second just looking down at her she didn't even seem to be bothered by the fact , it was as if she were completely lost in her own word but still aware of the things happening around her. I turned and walked back to the front of the class. "Well what are you waiting for the grass to grow." At this the other students rushed to their feet and ran for their ingredients. "Ah that's right I forgot to assign you partners." At my words the class erupted with groans. "Let's see who shall I pair together."
----Primrose----
I had been too busy in my own thoughts all day and not being paying attention I kept thinking through a plan to get the answers I needed. I hadn't even noticed Snape standing over me when he asked his question and the answer just rolled of my tongue like an automatic answer, as if he were asking my name. It wasn't long however until I was taken back to reality when I heard his words.
"Ah that's right I forgot to assign you partners" my head snapped up at that.
"Hmm let me see Potter, Willow find a cauldron" something inside me fell when my friend walked away and sat beside Harry I had a feeling Snape wouldn't put us together but I only really knew him out of everyone the only other person I'd like to be put with was now Hermione. "Granger, Longbottom and Longbottom I expect you to help Miss Granger, if not I shall be deducting points from Gryffindor and we all know what a pity that would be." He drawled sarcastically, as if he had read my mind, it wasn't long until only two of us remained and what luck did I have for it to me none other than Draco Malfoy.
"Malfoy, Stewart" I moved to sit next to him he looked up at me with a smug look on his face as I sat and shuffled my chair to the furthest place it could go away from him. "Well what are you all waiting for?" Snape asked before turning around and walking away.
"You heard the man what are you waiting for the grass to grow?"I clenched my fists as I stood and walked to get the ingredients that were set out at the front of the class. Drew met my eye and mouthed to me if I was okay, I nodded in response and returned to my seat. I started weighing out the ingredient, it was a simple potion, compared to many I had read it wouldn't be hard to make with or without Malfoy's help.
"Are you going to help?" I asked his expressionless face.
"Why should I?"
"We're meant to be partners" I replied in a small whisper under my breath. I turned back to read the instruction on the book double checking that I was going to do the right thing first.
1. Add 6 snake fangs to the mortar.
2.Crush into a fine powder using the pestle.
I turned to find Malfoy already crushing the fangs I just stood in wordless surprise. "You're not the only person that knows how to make a potion." His voice was harsh and mocking but his eyes conveyed a more lighter expression to his words.
"Thank you." I replied and turned to read the next instruction.
3.Add 4 measures of the crushed fangs to your cauldron.
4.Heat the mixture to 250 for 10 seconds.
Yet again however Malfoy had done the instruction for her. "8...9...10"
"Malfoy I can make this potion in my sleep let me do it." I said very irritated that I was getting to do any of the work.
"Of course you can didn't I say I know everything about you."
"Yeah about that what did you mean?"
"Well Rosie-"
"It's Primrose!" I yelled at him. I felt a chill from behind me and knew all to well that if I turned the bat like form, that was Snape, would we standing scolding at me.
"What appears to be the problem?" He asked Malfoy sounding irritated.
"Nothing Professor, Rosie and I were just discussing the potion." Malfoy replied to my annoyance. What gave him the right to come up with pet names and nick names for me. I huffed and turned back to the potion.
"Very well however maybe next time you could be quieter instead of yelling so loud you could wake a mountain troll."
"Look Rosie..."
"What?" I snapped giving in on the stupid nick name he had given me.
"Snape knows more than he's saying." He whispered, so quietly that it was barely audible above the bubbling cauldrons. The rest of the class was spent completing the boil potion but my thoughts were too busy wondering about what Malfoy had said. Snape came around at the end checking the potions for once Neville, with the aid of Hermione, had not messed up his potion. I caught his eye and gave him a smile which he returned with a slight blush. When Snape came to look at our potion he caught my eye for the briefest of seconds,in this seconds I felt like he could see into my soul. He drawled that our potion was excellent more praising Malfoy and ignoring me but something in my heart warmed at that moment.
Gathering my things Drew walked over to wait. "Well that was fun." He's greeted bitterly.
"At least you didn't have Malfoy." I replied with a snort.
"True true Harry was brilliant I still can't believe he was raised by muggles."
"So was I." I pointed put as we started to walk to the great hall.
"What was Malfoy like?"
"Helpful as much as it pains me to admit."
"What?"
"I think Malfoy's gotten me one step closer to finding my real parents." I replied but there was no more talk once we entered the hall, that was filled with mostly all the students, only a few followed behind us and the feast had begun.
