CHAPTER 3

I walked into the grill at 7:40, fashionably late you might say, and looked around for Kol. He was sitting at the bar with his brother, Klaus. Great, another arrogant Original. I debated whether to ditch Kol and just go home, but unfortunately he saw me and waved me over.

“And who is this lovely lady Kol?” Klaus asked.

“Bethany.” I answered for myself. ”I am unfortunately stuck with your brother for a music assignment.”

Klaus Chuckled.

“You’ve got yourself a tough one here Kol. Well, I better be off. Places to go, things to do, people to kill.”

Klaus left, leaving me alone in the torturous presence of Kol.

“So Kol, thought of any ideas?”

“Oh seriously? We are going to do this straight away?”

“Yup. The less time I spend with you the better.”

“Ouch, that hurts.”

He raised his hand to his heart in fake hurt. I raised my eyebrows.

“So much for being the invincible original.”

Kol sighed.

“Are you always this difficult?”

“Of course.” I smirked. He was silent so I continued.

“I figured we should do a singing duet, so I found some songs.” I paused and got out my phone to find my list, Yes, I am very organized.

“Just give me a reason by Pink Featuring Nate Ruess, Stay by Rihanna Featuring Mikki Echo, Almost here by Delta Goodrem and Brain McFadden..." I looked up at him. "Kol, are you even listening?” I asked, as he was looking rather disinterested.

“Yes. Why are all these songs love songs?” He asked.

“Because. I couldn’t find any that weren’t, so deal with it.”

He started laughing, “Sure you’re not trying to get something across here?”

Urgh. I stood up. He reminded me of someone I would rather not remember.

*FLASHBACK*

"Hello Darling, had a good night with your friends?" He slurred, approaching me.

I started walked backwards.

"It was OK."

"Mmm, well then. I better make your night better than OK."

He grabbed me and forcefully pushed himself onto me.

"Stop, Michael. Stop."

He chuckled and ajusted his grip on me.

"Maybe not this time darling."

He brought his mouth onto my neck. My heart thundered. This couldn't happen to me.

"STOP IT!" I shouted.

He drew off me in surprise.

"What did you say to me?" He hissed, glaring at me in a way that made me want to cower beneath him.

"Get off."

He slapped me.

"No. Bethany, you are mine."

I shoved him as hard as I could, trying to get him off me. He didn't budge, only chuckled at my piteous efforts.

"GET OFF!" I kicked wildly. With a grunt he got off me, clutching his stomach. High heels did have their uses.

"I am not yours, I am not anyone's. And I never will be."

*END OF FLASHBACK*

“Look Kol, I’m sorry you’re used to having every girl falling at your feet cause you’re so bloody handsome, and sorry I’m not like that! I just want to get good marks on this stupid performance, and if you don’t want to, that’s fine by me, but I won’t let you pull me down with you. So, Kol, just get over yourself already!” I paused taking a breath. I was sure I was getting quite red in the face, and a lot of people were staring. Kol was just grinning at me.

“Yes, that’s right Kol, just grin at me, OK. Cause that is totally productive." I threw my hands up into the air. "Well, I’m leaving.” With that I walked out of the grill and headed home. Yes, I may be a bit of a drama queen sometimes, but Kol just knew how to get to me and piss me off.

When I got home, I went straight to the kitchen to make myself some hot chocolate. The walk had calmed me down, but I could never say no to the opportunity of hot hocolate. I was boiling the kettle when the doorbell rang. I looked at my watch, it was 9:30, and I really didn’t know who would come here at this time. I walked to the door and opened. Oh, and guess who it was? The dreaded Kol. I felt my anger building.  Before I could say anything, he spoke.

“Look, Beth, I’m sorry I was such a jerk earlier.”

I just stood there in shock. Come on me, think of some witty comment.

“That’s fine, I overreacted.” I mentally faced palmed.

He smiled at me, truly smiled. But that quickly turned into his infamous smirk.

“So you think I’m ‘So bloody handsome’ do you?”

I groaned. “There’s the Kol I know and love.”

His smirk got even bigger.

“It’s a metaphor, OK? Deal with it.”

We stood there quite awkwardly for a few seconds.

“Aren’t you going to invite me in?”

I snorted. “Yeah, right. You really think I’m that stupid?”

“Please.” Kol pouted. That’s a new look on him.

“Fine, come in Kol.”

Could always find a new house, I guess. Besides, my bedroom was part of an older house, so that could be my safe haven for now.

He smirked and stepped inside closing the door behind him.

“Do you want a drink?”

“Why? Are you offering?”

I just rolled my eyes.

“You know what I mean.”

“Well then. No, I’m fine.”

I walked into the kitchen and he followed me. I ditched the idea of hot chocolate and decided to have something stronger; I would need it if I was to survive the night with Kol.

“So, do you want to work on our assignment or just sit here awkwardly?” I asked.

He laughed.

“We should probably find a song to start with.”

“Okay. Follow me.”

I walked up the stairs to my music room. It was actually a pretty awesome room; I had a ton of posters plastered over my walls. Kol walked in behind me.

He observed the room with surprise.

I smirked. “I believe the term your looking for is OMG?!”
