I walked out to where the three originals were standing.

“Told you it would work.”

Kol bit his tongue, refraining from comment.

“Beth? What are you doing here?”

I looked behind me to seem Stefan.

“And what is with your clothes?”

Ok. I do admit I must look a bit strange. I dressed in black skinny jeans, a black shirt and across my chest and torso I had numerous wooden stakes and vervain grenades.

“She was helping us, Salvatore. Actually, she planned the whole thing.”

I glared at Kol, he could’ve been a bit more sensitive.

“What?” Stefan looked at me with sadness in his eyes.

“Look. I’m sorry Stefan. I didn’t mean for you to get involved but I couldn’t think of any other way. Besides, I did promise that I’d never protect Elena again, and I didn’t.”

Stefan was silent as he looked at the ground.

“So. We’re cool right?” I aksed.

He just looked at me and then sped off using his vampire sped.

“Crap.” I kicked a tree to vent my annoyance. “Could’ve been a bit more sensitive Kol.”

“Well. I’m not the one with anger issues.”

“Ass.”

“Imbecile.”

“Halfwit.”

“Well, I’ll just be leaving you two lovebirds then shall I?” Klaus smirked. Kol and I glared at him. He just winked at walked off a leisurely pace.

“And I had better go and get Rebekah out of the tunnels.” Elijah said, speeding off into the darkness with a suppressed smile.

Great. Now I was left with Kol all by my lonesome. I turned to walk away, but Kol sped over in front of me.

“Beth. I’m sorry.”

I sighed, looking anywhere but at Kol. I attempted to swallow my pride.

“I’m sorry too. I overreacted.”

“So, we’re good?”

“I don’t know. I guess.”

“Well then Bethany Robertson. I have a question to ask you.”

I raised my eyebrow at this. A question?

“Will you be my girlfriend?”

My jaw dropped. I had not expected this. Before I could stop myself I answered.

“Yes.”

Kol grinned and enveloped me in a hug, burying his face in my hair. I hesitantly hugged him back. He lifted his head up and tentatively leaned in.

“Nope. Not happening.”

“Why not, girlfriend?”

“Urgh. You’re not going to stop are you?”

“Nope.” He smirked.

I hung my head before hurriedly pressing a quick kiss to his lips. As I tried to pull away he merely pulled me closer. Things quickly became very heated.

“Maybe.” He kissed my neck. “We should take this back to your house.”

I pushed him away gently.

“Not yet Kol.”

He looked disappointed but nodded in acceptance.

“Kol, you’re lucky you got this far. After being a nosy git and nearly choking me to death.”

He sighed defeatedly.

“Ok. Fine. I may or may not have mild anger issues.”

I smiled, shaking my head.

“Kol Mikaelson, admitting he was wrong!? Alert the press!”

He chuckled and grabbed me around the waist, spinning me around.

“Careful Kol! These grenades will go off if they move around too much!”

He instantly put me down and walked back a few steps grimacing.

“Where did you get that stuff anyway?”

“Long story.”

“We have time. But lets go back to my house.”

We did and after getting a drink (Water for me and blood for Kol).

“So. Story please.”

Kol leaned back on the couch, placing his legs up onto my lap, which I promptly pushed off.

“Well… I will shorten this by the way.”

He nodded and gestured for me to continue.

“Before I lived here I lived in Australia, way out in a small country town that no one particularly cared about. I didn’t particularly care about it either, but it was home. Only about 300 people lived in this town, which was a good size. Everybody knew everybody. But then, people started going missing, and bodies started turning up with their throats ripped out. As I know now, we had a vampire problem, but I didn’t know that then.”

I paused.

“My parents, unbeknownst to me, were well equipped to be vampire hunters. They started a council, very much like the one here. A few weeks after this they started putting vervain everywhere, and hiding wooden stakes in almost everyplace possible. Obviously, this didn’t make the vampire very happy. That week, they were attack and killed with their own stakes. I found the bodies.”

“Beth, I’m-“

“It’s fine. We weren’t close. What really makes me sad is what happened next.”

Kol was silent. I knew he didn’t want to ask me to go on.

“The night after my parents died, there was a town slaughter. Everyone except myself was killed.”

“How did you get away?”

“I didn’t.”
