Epilogue

Five years later…

“Kol Mikaelson! Get back here!” I yelled, laughing as I ran after Kol into the cold seawater.

“Come and get me!” He shouted from the water.

I shook my head at his childlike behavior, before diving into the warm water and swimming out to him. We were in Australia, as we had been for the past six months. Traveling about had been our lives for the past five year, and we decided it would be nice to stop in one place for a while.

I reached Kol quickly, but he ducked under the water so I could see him.

“KOL!”
I felt something around my legs. I screamed.

Kol grabbed my legs and pulled my under the water. I kicked out at him, but he was too quick. We surfaced, and Kol was laughing hysterically.

“Damn you Kol!”

“You know you love me.”

I stuck my tongue out at him, which he laughed at.

“Do we want to go in?”

“Sure, once you apologize.”

He puffed out his chest.

“The great Kol Mikaelson does not do apologies!”

“Well, now you do!”

“Nope!”

Time for the acting skills. I pretended to blink away tears and swam quickly into sure, hiding my smile under the water.

“Wait! Bethany! I’m sorry!” He called after me.

I walked ‘dejectedly’ up the beach. Kol jogged up behind me.

“Bethany! I’m sorry!”

I turned around grinning. Kol glared playfully at me.

“GOTCHA!” I shouted in his face, before running away.

“Oh, you’re on babe!”

He sprinted after me. I heard his steps approaching. Damn. He had always been faster than me. I felt Kol grab me from behind, before spinning me around and dumping me in the sand.

“Urgh.”

“Sorry darling. You asked for it.”

I narrowed my eyes at him.

“A little help here!”

I held out my hands, and he grabbed them, attempting to pull me up.

“Not so fast, pretty boy.”

I put all my weight and he came toppling into the sand next to me. I started laughing at his shocked expression.

“Oh, you getting it now!’

He started tickling me.

“Kol!” I gasped, “Sto-“ I couldn’t talk from laughing.

We both collapsed in a heap in the sand. I rested my head on Kol’s stomach.

“I love you, Beth.”

I started, well that was spontaneous. Kol noticed.

“What is it darling?”

“Its just that all this, it’s so…” I searched for the right word.

“Unexpected.”
