CHAPTER 10

It was a fine silver necklace, but it was the pendant that was truly stunning. It was a beautiful silver watch, with intricate golden inlay on the front. Inside, the watch hands were also gold, with a diamond in the center where the hands met.

“Oh Kol, it's gorgeous.”

I pulled it out of the box and put it around my neck. Turning around, I said:

“Do you mind?”

He chuckled, pulled my hair away and latched the clasp together. He then turned me around looking at my chest where the necklace sat. He smiled at me.

“You like it?”

“I love it Kol! Where did you find it?”

“That's for me to know, and you to dot dot dot."”

I laughed, looking up at him. He gazed down at me, searching my face as if I was lying. What happened next both surprised me and delighted me. Quickly, before I put distance between us, he leant down and captured my lips in his. I stood there for a few seconds in shock, before a put my hands on the back of his neck, pulling him closer. He smirked into the kiss, which was quite infuriating. The kiss was slow and Kol was surprisingly gentle.

He was the first to pull away.

“You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting to do that.”

I smiled; sure my face was rather beetroot like. He brushed my hair behind my ears before placing his lips on mine again. I was so filled with warmth that I wasn’t thinking straight and my heart was racing, which was quite embarrassing, as I knew Kol would be able to hear it.

“Well, isn’t this lovely.”

Kol and I jumped apart, only to see Klaus standing in the door smirking at us, leaning on the doorframe.

“Get out brother.” Kol growled.

“Nope. I think I’ll just grace you with my wonderful company. If Bethany is lucky I might even pick up the pieces after you leave her.” Klaus said, winking in my direction.

“I won’t leave her.”

“Sure. Since when have you been an expert on females? You can’t keep one for more than one night.”

I was sick of being ignored and their pointless banter.

“Firstly, Kol can’t exactly ‘leave’ me because we aren’t even dating.” I said. “Secondly, if he did, I think I could manage quiet well on my own.”

“Sure darling. You tell yourself that. Just don’t come crying to me when he does.” With that, Klaus left.

“Well, that ruined the moment.”

“That’s my brother for you. He can’t even get a girl in the first place.”

A voice came echoing up from the corridor. “I heard that!”

We both rolled our eyes simultaneously, laughing when we realized we did so.

“I like him.”

Kol glared at me. I just laughed.

“He’s just like you, except more… Hybrid-y.”

Kol still didn’t look happy.

“Don’t worry, I still like you more.” I smiled.

“Prove it.”

“Nope. Not playing your games Kol.”

“Well, then. I just have to play them for you.”

He leaned down.

“Oh, my, gosh. You two are so adorable together!” Our moment was interrupted a second time. Kol sighed in frustration, running his fingers through his hair.

“What do you want, Rebekah?”

“I want to get to know your girlfriend.” She said turning to me.

“Are you up for shopping tomorrow at midday?”

“Sure.”

“I’ll pick you up then, where do you live?”

“Baker road. Number 11.”

“Cool. I’m Rebekah by the way.”

I smiled. “Beth and Yeah, I know. Kol was talking about you the other day.”

She smiled back at me.

“Well, I’m going back to bed to get some beauty sleep. See you tomorrow!”

She left and I turned to Kol.

“I think I like that idea of sleep. Can you take me home?”

“Sure thing darling.”
