“Well, Beth. Even though I have known you for a short time, I have come to like you and enjoy your company very much.”

I opened my mouth to say something but he held up his hand to stop me.

“I know you have a partial relationship with my brother, Kol, and I really don’t know what’s going on there, but I would very much like you to give me a chance.”

“Elijah-“

“I’m sorry of this was too forward of me, and I will give you time. I will be seeing you.”

He started to walk off but I grabbed his sleeve. He turned to me and examined my face, trying to see what I was playing at. I looked back at him, trying to find something to say, but before I could, he leaned down and pressed his lips against mine. I didn’t respond. I was so shocked. This was not planned. He broke off when we heard a scuffle coming from the balcony above us. Someone was thrown off the balcony, followed by the infamous Damon Salvatore. Damon jumped onto who I realized was Kol. Scuffling Damon broke Kol‘s neck.

“Smart move dumb-ass.”

Damon looked at me, seemingly exhausted.

Finn, Rebekah, Elena and Stefan ran out.

“What the hell Damon!” Stefan yelled puffed out. Jeez these guys are unfit. They are vampires for goodness sakes!

Elijah stood in front of me protectively, but I pushed him out of the way. Damon waltzed off into the darkness, apparently not wanting to face Kol when he woke up.

I walked up to Kol, nudging him with my foot.

“You had better hope he stays dead for a while. I wouldn’t like to see what will become of this party if he doesn’t.”

“I will go and ask the guests to start to finish up.” Elijah said stiffly, giving me a pointed look.

“Elijah-“ I called after him, but he just walked off, ignoring me. Just great.

I looked down at Kol’s body again.

“Oi, Bekah. Help me carry this idiot inside will you. I’ll stick around and see if I can calm him down once he wakes. It’s not going to be pretty.”

Rebekah came over and lifted Kol.

“Better take the side door. Kol’s ego doesn’t need another beating with everyone seeing his younger sister carrying him around.”

“Sure thing Bekah. But I don’t really think his ego will ever deflate, no matter what you do to it.”

The party broke up rather quickly afterwards, with no less than 100 compulsions on Elijah’s part, I’m sure. I stayed by Kol’s side, fiddling on my phone all the while. Elijah was very reluctant in leaving me with him, but I convinced him I would be fine. I really didn’t want to feel his wrath after the Damon incident, but I knew I could calm him. If not, I don’t think the other originals would really object to ‘peacefully’ sedating him again.

“WHERE IS HE? I’M GOING TO KILL THAT DAMN SALVATORE.”

Kol was sitting up in bed, looking the angriest I’ve ever seen him. Fangs out and veins popping, he looked at me, which seemed to make him even angrier.

“Kol, calm down.” I pushed him slightly, trying to get him to lie down again.

“Don’t tell me to CALM DOWN!” Within a blink of an eye, he had me pinned up against the wall with his hand on my neck.

‘Kol!” I rasped, stuggling for breath. He pressed harder crushing my windpipe. Black spots started to swim in front of my vision.

Elijah burst into the room, throwing Kol off me and into the opposite wall.

“Oh, of course Beth. Let your boyfriend come to your rescue.” Kol hissed.

“He is NOT my boyfriend.”

Kol laughed.

"Well what was tonight then?"

"Kol-"

"Save it. I should've seen you were a bit a prostitute."

That hit home. I felt my heart break. My mind flashed back to my previous boyfriend, who had called me exactly that. Tears threatened to spill onto my cheeks. NO. I was not weak, he couldn't do this to me. I clenched my fists.

“I don’t know how I could have ever even gone near you, let alone liked you! You almost killed me, and now you insult me? How could I think that you, a selfish, arrogant git, could ever be anything other than that? You are unbelievable.” I shouted.

I stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind me. Leaving Elijah to deal with Kol, I pushed past Klaus and Rebekah and walked home with tears streaming down my face.

I was so stupid.
