"Jasper, hand me the rolling pin please." Tyler politely asked his adoptive brother, the thirteen year old let out a hum in acknowledgement before handing over the wooden rolling pin to the freckle cheeked brunet.
"Should I add more chocolate chips to this or no?" Jasper asked as he stirred the cookie mix in the bowl.
Cara leaned over to look in the bowl and shrugged her shoulders. "I would say yes, but I know you don't really like chocolate, so add more peanut butter chips." She suggested and Jasper made a noise in satisfaction. His lips tightening as they widened into a appreciative smile.
Today was the day Travis and Charlie got home from their second honeymoon, the first time they had took a trip to Hawaii and this time they took a trip to Fiji. They had been married for four years, as of now, and they had adopted Jasper the same year they tied the knot. Cara had gotten engaged to a male but ended up calling it off after she caught him cheating on her. At the time it was very heartbreaking, but Cara was a strong woman and didn't let that bring her down at all. She was now seeing a woman named Margot, and she was the happiest she could be at the moment. Josh and Tyler however, lived a different story.
They had been engaged.
On Tyler's twentieth birthday, Josh had took the boy ice skating at the local hockey rink that offered skating on weekdays. The now blond haired boy had cracked jokes the whole time about how Tyler was actually Bambi, being that his long limbs would cause him to stumble and shake like a baby doe, but he had never fallen once on the ice because Joshua had always been there to catch him. They skated for two hours before the duo finally got the hang of how to at least steady themselves, and that's when Joshua decided to get down on one knee in front of the brunet who was pressing a gloved hand to his chest, and staring wide eyed.
He accepted the proposal before Joshua could even finish his confession of love for the boy, and the silver plaited diamond ring had been placed on the ring finger of Tyler's left hand. It had been a cute, heartfelt engagement where a lot of tears were shed, from Tyler's part, and happy kisses interrupted by the little laughs and giggles that escaped both their lips.
Tyler was now twenty-one, and Joshua was twenty-three, his birthday not passing that long ago.
"I'm home!" A shout came from the living room, Cara gagged while Jasper laughed at the dramatic brunette, earning a small hip bun from his oldest brother.
"In the kitchen!" Tyler shouted back, before he heard the patter of feet down the hallway, the jingle of keys being set down was also heard until a pair of strong arms wrapped around Tyler's small frame, hugging him closely to the older male's body.
Lips pressed to Tyler's cheek before that familiar deep voice with the sweet undertone spoke. "What are these for?" He asked as he pointed to the cookies on the pan, his chin resting on Tyler's shoulder as he watched Jasper mix the doughy mixture.
"Cookies to celebrate mom and dad's anniversary." Jasper answered with a sweet smile, dimples appearing on his cheeks with the action causing Josh to smile. The thirteen year old boy surprised not only Josh, but the whole family with his looks that were so similar to Tyler's.
The same wavy brown hair, sparkling brown eyes, pouty pink lips, and dimples that brightened up his smile. The only difference really was the build of his body, shape of his face, and the fact that he had freckles dusting his cheeks. Charlie and Travis that they lucked out when they adopted the small teenager who was nine when they finally got to adopt him.
