I realize how late this is being posted and I apologize x one million but I have just not had time. I'm truly sorry but hopefully this makes up for it.
Valentine's Day. One of the most dreaded times of the year. It wasn't that Aleya hated Valentine's Day, but she was usually alone and seeing couples together wasn't exactly uplifting. But she liked the colors, and she used it as an excuse to dress nice for school. But this year was different.
While at dance the previous night, someone had left a secret admirer note in her bag. Aleya figured it was one of her friends—perhaps Kaycee or maybe Jade playing a joke on her—but the note looked like it was written by a boy.
     It read;
Dear Aleya,
I don't plan on telling you who I am, because that would be beyond embarrassing, but I will tell you that I really, really like you. I'll give you this much—we're close friends. I hope this doesn't ruin anything if you just so happen to find out who's writing this. But you are amazing in every way possible and just an awesome person. I hope you know that.
Left on the note was a messily drawn heart. The note was really flattering, but what good was it to be flustered over something if she didn't even know who wrote it? Anyways, she was talking about it with Kaycee, trying to figure out who it was.
"Maybe they left it in the wrong bag," Aleya said, deep in thought. As she leaned against the row of lockers, Kaycee peaked out from behind her own locker and rolled her eyes at Aleya.
"It has your name on it Aleya. Why is this such a big deal to you anyway? They said you two were 'close friends,' so it can't be anyone random, right?" Kaycee questioned, throwing one final book into her locker before locking it shut.
"I suppose so. I'm just really curious, that's all. I've never gotten a secret admirer note from someone who thinks I'm 'awesome,'" Aleya snorted, emphasizing the word awesome.
"Whatever. Hey, I got to go print out a paper in the library. You good here or do you want to come?"
Aleya waved her off, saying she would be fine by herself for the last few minutes of lunch. Suddenly, the penmanship on the note looked oddly familiar, but she just couldn't put her finger on it.
Deciding she'd ask around tonight at class, she stuffed the note into her backpack and took off to class.
About 5 hours later, she was at rehearsal along with Kaycee and Jade. But the two girls were acting really strange, and Kaycee suggested that Aleya go ask Sean if he knew who wrote the note.
Aleya thought that was really odd, but she got up and strolled over to Sean anyway. Maybe he saw the person stuff it into her bag.
"Hey Sean, can I ask you something?" She asked, flopping down onto the floor next to him. Sean's eyes widened for not even half a second, but he stuffed his water bottle into his bag and faced Aleya anyways, curious as to what she had to say.
"So, I'm probably going to sound really crazy, but someone left a note in my bag yesterday. I was just wondering if you saw or know who it was?" Aleya asked, fiddling with her fingers.
"Aleya, come here," Sean spoke, grabbing Aleya's hand and pulling her up from the floor and dragging her into the corner of the studio. His grip was strong but not enough to hurt her.
"I put the note in your bag, Aleya. I was way too nervous to tell you in person, and to sign the note. I'm sorry, I don't mean to make things awkward but I didn't know how else to tell you," Sean spoke quickly. Aleya was shocked.
Sean had a look on his face that resembled a small puppy who had just been stepped on. Aleya could feel her cheeks heat up, and the smile on her face was inevitable.
Sean smiled, too. He could tell that it wasn't awkward, but that Aleya had felt the same. Why hadn't he told her sooner? The worst thing she could have said was that she didn't feel the same way.
Aleya said nothing. She laced their fingers together and pulled him over to watch people perform the routine they'd been learning. The smaller girl couldn't help but giggle quietly. Her stomach was swirling, and her chest was filled with joy.
Sean felt the same way. As people were dancing, he couldn't help but look over at Aleya adoringly and smile lovingly. They had known each other for years, and now that they finally knew how they felt about one another, Sean could finally stop dreaming this would happen, because it finally had.
