There he stood, with perfect posture and elegance I immediately locked eyes with him. He had on to no surprise a gray sweater that seem to show off the end of his curled hair that effortlessly look perfect. He cautiously takes off his violin from his shoulder and steps foreword.
Awkwardly, I walk past the chattering students.
"Mr. Calvin?" I whisper,
I could see a nervous look in his eyes, "Elenore? What a surprise, I didn't know you play the violin"
"yeah I do, um I see its a full house" I motion at the couple of rows of seats filled
he nods, "some just came to see"
I press my lips together and bring my violin closer to my chest.
"here, why don't you take a seat and enjoy this small show" he rises his violin and smile.
Reluctantly I take the empty chair in the front row next by some older women. With a small smile to her, I turn to look at him with my full attention, Mr. Calvin begins to play again.
Breath taking, the melodic sound that are made from his hands sends chills down my spine. So pure and perfect to my ears, I close my eyes and let my mind run free.
After a few minutes of music the last string vibrates lingering on the note making a small but peculiar silence.
Everyone claps and rise to their feet, praising Mr. Clavin as he slowly lets go of the bow. He steps back and humbly bows in response.
I'm too dazed, too surprised that Mr. Calvin was a violin player, I mean he was already talented in his job, but he seemed too flawless.
The meeting still continued for a couple of minutes. Only until the last of the guests thanked Mr. Calvin with praising words and a small chat.
I stand against the wall, examining Mr. Calvin from afar as he shook hands with a man than seemed to be another violin player like himself. Few words were passed with a grin before he left.
"So how did you like it?" his voice radiates across the empty room.
I watch as he places his violin on the table, I couldn't help to stare as he caged it away in its case.
"Oh, it was amazing" I carefully walk to his side.
he glances at me, "thank you"
"No Mr. Calvin really, I felt like I was listening to a magnificent solo piece it was brilliant."
I don't know if the was warmth of the room or the fact I made him blush, but I could see little pecks of pink across his cheeks. I bite my bottom lip to keep me from grinning like some creeper.
"please, its nothing" he smiles.
The ruffling sound of his case soon caught up in the silence. It had gotten quiet, the silent wind outside howled like a wolf. The dripping water from the pipes were like pounding bullets ready to attack.
"So, why you're here?" Mr. Calvin sweet voice breaks the silence, I turn towards him feeling hurt.
Did he not want me here?
"Um, I actually came to take the class" I mumble,
"You play?"
"Yeah"
he pulls his wrists upward, sliding back his sleeve to catch a glance of his watch, "Hmm, its getting late, maybe next time I can hear you play"
my stomach churns, "play?" my words could barely escape my lips
"Of course" he gets up from the table and grabs his coat.
I have never actually played in front of people before, but only front of my mother and grandmother. Yet it really doesn't count since they are my family, but to play in front of Mr.Calvin? I can't imagine.
My knees tremble and a short gasp escape my lips.
I follow him from behind as he politely opens the door for me outside. He comes to a stop and turns to face me,
"Well, come the same time next week and I'll be here,"
I shake my head eagerly,
"Ok then I see you in class have a goodnight, " he waves goodbye
I wave back feeling my numb fingers shake uncontrollably. I couldn't believe it. "goodnight" I mutter.
