Think rationally, Lucifer told himself as he paced back and forth in his very large bedroom. His footsteps echoed around the room, bouncing off the walls, throwing themselves back at him. He didn't know what his next move would be. This was a perfect game of chess and each move had to be well planned out for him to win, but what would be his move? He knew Michael like the back of his hand and he knew what he was capable of doing. Michael was tough as nails and secretly cruel, but only Lucifer knew that side of him. Michael was Lucifer's worst enemy (besides God, of course), they used to be so close but Michael betrayed him and he couldn't forget that. The scar that was left from the knife that was lunged into his back mentally and physically remained. He studied Michael very well over the years and discovered things no one but God knew. Michael had a human soulmate as well; Isabelle Roosevelt. She lived in Hawaii with her husband; Lucas, and their twin daughters. Lucifer knew how broken Michael was over that but it was his own fault, he chose to stay away, so was he jealous of Lucifer because he was with the woman he's destined to be with? He wanted to warn Michael to stay away or things would go very bad, but how? Lucifer continued to pace with his racing thoughts. He could hurt him like he did Anpiel? No, he thought, he can't enter Heaven to do that and he would never catch him at Estrella's. He was too sneaky. Besides, that would make matters worse if he harmed God's new favorite son. But if he harmed Isabelle, Michael would surely get vengeance by harming Estrella as well. But, he thought, he could harm Isabelle without physically touching her. He could turn her whole world upside down by snapping his fingers, and that would destroy Michael because all he wants is for her to live a happy, normal life. Lucifer came to a steady halt and smiled, that's what he would do then. He opened the door and marched down the corridor at a fast pace, smirking devilishly as he did.
"Check mate, brother." He mumbled under his breath.
He needed a demon to do his dirty work and he knew the perfect girl for the job. Anika. Anika murdered both of her parents, little brother (six) and little sister (four) with an ax when she was only fourteen. From there on, she was treated as a mental patient. Even now, as a demon, she talks to the voices in her head and screams for no apparent reason. He kept her chained in Hades dungeon because she kept trying to eat the others and even him, he had no other choice but to lock her away. The dungeon was in the worst part of Hades, where the heat was too much to bear and would melt the human skin right off the bones. The dungeon was in very bad shape as well but surprisingly the cell doors held together strongly. His prisoners were neglected and tortured, just to satisfy some demon's sadistic needs. What happened in the dungeon was none of Lucifer's concern, he didn't care what the demons did to them as long they were locked back up afterwards. His boots crunched the pebbles as he approached the dungeon's entrance. A male demon guarded the entrance with a long, metal rod stained in blood; ready to strike at any minute but his muscles relaxed when Lucifer came closer.
"Unlock the door." he demanded.
The demon nodded his big round head and pulled the key chain out of his pocket. He was mute now, after Lucifer punished him four years ago for talking back. The things Lucifer did still haunt him in the present. He unlocked the door and opened it, letting Lucifer in. It was eerily silent but he ignored it, walking through the long dungeon while passing the cells. Smoke and dust filled the air but it didn't bother Lucifer's lungs nor make his eyes water. Anika's cell was at the end of the corridor and she was very clear to see, sitting against the wall while chewing her fingernails off. Lucifer swallowed hard at the sight but pulled through the nausea. She looked terrible, and the scent that lingered in her cell was gagging.
"Luci," she greeted before he could speak. She ripped off a nail and spat it out onto the floor. "long time no see."
"Apparently after this long I'm still not seeing much," he said and leaned against the bars with his arms folded over his chest. Anika growled and stood up on her bare feet, dragging her chains across the stone floor. Lucifer smirked. "what if I told you that you could be set free for a while?"
She looked at him, her pale and cracked lips quivered before speaking."What's the price?"
"I'm pleased to hear that you know there's a price," Lucifer paused for a moment before explaining his offer. "I need you to hurt someone. Actually, scratch that, I need you to murder someone."
"I'm listening." Anika said.
"Her name is Isabelle Cooney and I want her perfect, happy, world to fall apart. She has a husband and two daughters, and I want you to get rid of one of them. Just make her suffer."
Anika laughed wickedly before saying;
"Who pissed you off?"
"Someone who shouldn't have," he mumbled. "so will you do it?"
"When do you want me to?"
"Soon. I will come get you when it's time, until then you will stay in here." Lucifer replied coldly.
He turned on his boots and walked off, letting his black cloak brush the floor as he took his steps. He was going to give Isabelle another day to enjoy her life before it came falling down around her and another day for Michael to enjoy the thought of her being eternally happy. Lucifer used to despise when his brothers messed with him in his kingdom, but nothing compared to the wrath he felt when someone messed with his soulmate.
