"Wake up," Jenna sang. "I made breakfast."
Estrella stirred then grabbed the blanket, pulling it over her head as if Jenna would disappear.
"Five more minutes."
"Nope, it's already noon and I made cheesy eggs. Wake up!" Jenna pulled the blanket off and Estrella opened her eyes, looking a little puzzled.
"Cheesy eggs?"
"Yep. It's scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese on top, melted. It's good, Emma loves it."
Emma was Jenna's four years old daughter; she was very shy but very sweet.
"Okay, I'll get up and eat." Estrella told her. She sat up and stretched, feeling her joints pop from sleeping on an uncomfortable couch. Jenna skipped off to the kitchen to fix her a plate.
"Did you sleep good?"
"Yeah I did, thanks for letting me sleep over Jenna. I really appreciate it."
Estrella got up from the couch and gripped the blanket, starting to fold it up.
"No need to thank me, you're my bestie. I'll always be here for you, for anything you need."
Jenna handed Estrella's plate to her and she took it, looking down at the delicious food and she didn't know how hungry she was until she saw the eggs. She sat down and looked up at the flat screen, seeing the news reporting a crime at the shop "Odd Things". The headline read "Four found dead".
"Whoa, turn this up please."
With a mouthful of cheesy eggs, Jenna turned up the television's volume with a black remote.
"Two hours ago a call to nine one one was made from a woman in her thirties describing the event that happened late last night. Authorities arrived on the scene find four unidentified bodies, police say this is an active investigation."
"Oh my god." Estrella whispered in disbelief. Jenna glanced at her to see that she was extremely pale.
"Do you know them?"
"I was there yesterday evening before I came into work."
"Why, were you getting your palm read? It's a weird place Estrella, some psycho probably got angry with his fortune and he went into a rage." Jenna told her then skipped a channel.
Estrella thought she was right, until she started to think about the situation she was in with the devil and why she went there in the beginning. It was odd that there was a murder hours before she was supposed to come back. Did he do this? Was he behind this? Was he trying to scare her? Jenna looked at her once she became silent. She looked deep in thought, scared and angry all at once. She hadn't even touched her food.
"You okay?"
Estrella blinked and forced a smile to throw Jenna off.
"I'm fine, just thinking."
"Well cheer up," she ordered. "how about we go shopping today? I don't have to pick Emma up from school until three o'clock. Plus, we're off work for tonight so we can party!"
"That sounds like fun but I should get back home in case the family needs me," Estrella sat her plate down. "I'm going to go freshen up."
"Alright," Jenna mumbled. She watched her wander towards the bathroom suspiciously. "yep, she's pregnant."
Estrella splashed her face with cold water then looked at her reflection, sighing in distress. She was angry at the whole world, at the devil and especially God. God allowed this all to happen to her in her life without a care. He never gave her a father figure, he took her mom's life a month ago and he gave her Lucifer's soul so they could be soulmates or whatever you wanted to call it. If Lucifer murdered those innocent people because she asked for help, she was going to find out for sure, she just needed to get home. She opened the bathroom door, feeling slightly better after splashing her face with cold water.
