Estrella’s eyes opened immediately and she sat up, looking around her living room in confusion. She must have fallen asleep while watching television and despite the fact that she had a nightmare about Lucifer, she felt like someone else was here with her.
“Lucifer,” she said aloud. “stop hiding and just show yourself. I’m not in the mood to play your games.” she sighed, pulling the blanket off of her body in order to get up.
“My apologies Estrella, he’s not here.” replied a deep, male voice from over her shoulder. She turned fleetingly, scooting away and she expected him to be another brother of Lucifer’s but she was shocked to see that his eyes were black as Lucifer’s.
He stood beside the couch, wearing outdated black clothing and held a perfect poker face.
“What do you want?” Estrella snickered. He smiled slightly, Lucifer had described her as a feisty girl.
“My name is Abaddon,” he replied. “Lucifer’s right hand. It is now my responsibility to keep a close eye on you, since the archangels are getting a little too close for comfort. Your soulmate is anxious.”
Estrella huffed, signaling that she was aggravated before getting up and grasping her empty coffee mug off the table.
“Don’t call him that,” she demanded. “and tell him I don’t need a babysitter. I can handle things on my own.”
She turned her shoulder and march towards the kitchen, leaving Abaddon dazzled by her attitude.
“You don’t love him?"
“No!” she exclaimed. “I don’t care if he is my soulmate or whatever,” she shook her head. “I don’t love him and I never will.”
Abaddon licked his lips once, watching her rinse her mug from the place he stood.
“You know,” he trailed off and Estrella shut off the running water to listen to what he had to say. “you’re not a very good liar. Your heart beat quickens when you do, did you know that?”
She paused in silence for a long moment, thinking of her next comeback but she couldn’t think of one, maybe because she knew she was already caught in her lies.
“I don’t love him.” she growled.
“Are you trying to convince me or yourself?”
Estrella exhaled, stepping out of the kitchen to face Abaddon.
“Both.” she folded her arms over her chest and he nodded understandingly.
“I get it,” he said then sat down on her couch. “he’s the Devil and you know it’s wrong to love him but you can’t control how you feel. Can you?”
Estrella swallowed roughly as her throat became oddly dry, she felt like she was being interviewed by this man--- or thing.
“It’s silly,” she laughed. “loving someone who won’t love you back.”
Abaddon smirked and said;
“Between you and I, he loves you.”
Estrella laughed at him and he grimaced. Did she think he was deceiving her when he truly wasn’t?
“The Devil can’t love.”
“Actually he can,” he disputed. “Lucifer is an angel. Humans and angels do have similarities, believe it or not. He has emotions and since you are his soulmate, he is destined to love you.”
Abaddon seemed to know a lot and she grew more curious. She hurried to the recliner and flopped down, staring at him.
“How are you and him so positive it’s me though, couldn’t it be a mistake?”
Abaddon knew that he was telling her too much already but he felt compelled to do so. To obey her authority.
“No it couldn’t,” he replied then continued on to explain in better detail to her understanding. “when you were born; October twentieth, Lucifer was affected by your birth. It was to let him know that his soulmate had been created. He was nauseous, dizzy and even confused at different times. When he realized it could be his soulmate, he and I left to find it. To destroy it. We didn't know what it was, nor what to expect to find. We found you at the hospital, you were awake and looking at him, and he just couldn’t destroy you. The look I saw in his eyes was a look I’ve never seen before, and I only see it when he speaks of you. After that day, he was always watching over you and protecting you from harm. But you were still affecting him and believe me, at times it was so bad he’d disappear for hours to try to overcome it. You are his soulmate Estrella, that won’t ever change."
Deep down, Estrella knew that she was but she wasn’t ready to accept it just yet.
“He doesn’t do that to me.”
“No but he makes you apprehensive, doesn’t he?”
She paused in thought, how was he sure of that? Yes, Lucifer did, but she didn’t want to admit it. She shook her head.
“What am I meant to do here, be with him forever? Michael is already after me!”
“Michael won’t harm you. Lucifer will be sure of that.” Abaddon promised her.
“Where is he then? Shouldn’t he be here and not you?!”
Abbadon couldn’t tell her the truth. He was in his bedroom, making Lilith scream in pleasure or agony; Abaddon wasn’t sure which one.
“I don’t know.”
Immediately Estrella knew he was lying, something was going on and she didn’t think that he would tell her. He stood up, exhaling.
“I have to get back but I will return very soon, will you be fine?”
Estrella nodded her head but didn’t speak, too much was on her mind. Abaddon didn’t take offense, instead he was relieved she remained silent. He shut his eyelids and allowed the black mist to drag him back to hell. Leaving her alone in her thoughts.
