He didn't want to lie to his tentmate.
He didn't want to lie to Frank.
But...
Something is keeping him from telling the truth.
Good thing for Gerard, he was good at acting, thanks to Elena.
Oh...Elena.
Gerard looked away when Frank asked Gerard to teach him on how to handle and use a gun.
"Hey, Gee. What's wrong?"
Gerard shook his head and smiled. "Uh..nothing. Come, Frank. I'll teach you how to shoot."
Gerard's heart melted when Frank began to jump with joy like a puppy getting a treat.
"Thank you, Gerard!"

Frank's POV

"Concentration, determination, implementation. That's all you need. Steady your hand and your heartbeat. Focus. Eye on the target."
"Ah, Gerard. I can't do it!"
"You haven't even tried, stupid."
"But-"
"Just put your finger on the trigger and pull it!"
I sighed. I badly wanted to know how to use a gun. I finally found someone to help me, my own tentmate Gerard, but even his instructions were blurry.
I whined once more, my biggest mistake because Gerard swore then walked away.
He started looking out in the window of the Target Gym and drowned in his thoughts.
I wanted to prove Gerard I can do it. So I pulled the trigger, then closed my eyes.

Sh*t.
I missed?!
Gerard seemed to be back in the real world, because, without turning around, he said, "Frank, move a bit to the right. Make your gun higher. And..squat a bit."
I did what he told me to do. I pulled the trigger once more, then closed my eyes.

Sh*t.
Will I even ever hit?

After finishing all the bullets from my gun, Gerard dismissed me and told me to get food for the both of us.

Gee's POV

Concentration. Determination. Implementation. That's all you need, Gee. Steady your hand and your heartbeat. Focus. Eye on the target.

The words of wisdom Gerard's grandmother said when he was learning on how to shoot with a gun when he was fifteen.

Gerard remembered the first time he made a bull's eye; they celebrated in a Spanish restaurant with his brother, Mikey. He wanted those days to come back but,
The past is in the past.

Gerard was back in his tent, waiting for Frank. He checked his watch. 12:00 noon. He decided to check on his brother.
He arrived at Mikey's tent for visiting. Surprisingly, no one was there.
"Looking for someone?"
Gerard turned to find Patrick smiling brightly. "Where are all the inhabitants of this tent, Trick?" Gerard asked.
Patrick's smile faded away. "Oh..they evacuated already to another place. And as for us..well..we are waiting for further instructions."
Gerard looked down. Those goodbyes of theirs with Mikey and Ray were their last goodbyes for real.

Mikey's POV

Why didn't I follow my brother?
Mikey thought this over again and again.
The night Gerard visited Mikey and Ray was truly their last goodbye. Gerard said this.
Mikey and the others were in an airplane, flying to Orlando. Mikey leaned closer to Donna Lee, who hugged him tightly.
"Will my brother be okay?"
Donna Lee nodded, a tear trickling down her face. "I didn't show your brother much love. And now..he's separated from us. Oh, Mikey. I wish I was a better mother.."
Mikey sighed. "Mom, why do you always cry? And brother will be fine. You'll see him again. Safe and sound!"
Donna Lee smiled at her youngest child. "I so do hope so, Mikey."
Suddenly, the airplane shook. The right wing was on fire!
"Passengers, this is Captain America speaking. Please grab the oxygen masks above you and don't panic!"
Donna Lee and Mikey grabbed the oxygen masks above them and put their own masks on. But then, Donna Lee's bag got stuck on the passenger seat. She tugged and tugged her bag. The airplane began filling with smoke. Donna Lee's eyes watered.
"Mom! I can't wear it! My hair is tangled!"
Donna Lee couldn't see a thing. Her vision was black due to the lack of oxygen in her brain, but her hands found Mikey's hair and untangled his hair from his mask.
Almost all the oxygen escaped her head. Mikey wailed his mother's name, but then all Donna Lee can do in the last moments of her life was say,
"Mikey, tell Gerard,
If I could be with him tonight,
I would sing him to sleep
"Never let them take the light behind your eyes
I'd fail and lose this fight
Never fade in the dark
Just remember you will always burn as bright"."
Then Donna Lee said no more.
Mikey wailed his mother's name, but her eyes were dull amd her skin was cold. In other words, dead.
The airplane was falling, and Mikey knew it was the end of him, too.
He closed his eyes as the airplane crashed in the ocean below.
