Day Five | Chapter 02: Frothing Despair | To Survive Daily Life

"Good Morning, everyone! It is now 7 AM and Night-Time is officially over! Let's give it our best to have fun today, alright!?"

Amber wasn't sure how long she'd been asleep, or if she had even fallen asleep at all, but from how heavy her body felt, it probably wasn't very long.

MonoMachine's cheery, sickening voice was the only sound she had heard for (what felt like) hours.

After a couple long minutes stretched past, Amber slowly got out of the bed and walked to the Mess Hall.

Not even the deaths of two of her friends could break the routine that Amber had adapted to over the duration of her stay in this Castle from hell.

It kinda disturbed her how used to the surveillance cameras she had become.

When she entered the Mess Hall, she found that only half of the other attendees.

Then, Amber bitterly reminded herself that there was only fourteen people remaining. This was a little over half of the remaining attendees.

The ones who were absent were probably too drained to get out of bed.

Amber walked over and sat next to Seto, who looked as if he hadn't slept at all as he quietly stared at a steaming cup of tea.

Ty was staring off into space, his head resting on his folded arms.

"Morning." Mitch greeted, him and Jerome being the only ones who were actually eating any food.

Of course they wouldn't be disturbed. They've seen people die before in their Hunger Games matches.

Except, in the games, those who die usually come back completely fine.

Although, they didn't seem to be showing any kind of grief over the death of their friends which was different compared to everyone else.

Amber looked over at them,"Morning." The response was forced. A half-assed attempt to try and feel like nothing was wrong, despite the fact it clearly was.

"Did you sleep well?" Mitch asked after swallowing a mouthful of food.

"Kinda." Amber's gaze wandered over to Jerome's plate, which was filled with raw fish, as usual. Although, Amber was sure the pile was a little smaller this morning .

"Well.. From how Seto's been acting, I'd say he didn't sleep well either."

The morning progressed in silence, only occasionally broken by morning greetings as others entered the Mess Hall.

Chase was quiet as he ate his breakfast, but he didn't look at all like he had witnessed the death of his friends just last evening.

"Hey, Chase. Sleep well?" Jerome asked, probably noticing Chase's seeming immunity to the grieving atmosphere.

"Yeah."

"What do you plan on doing today?"

"Testing the metal plates again, I guess."

The conversation died out and the Mess Hall became silent except for Mitch, Jerome and Chase eating their food.

It had probably been an hour before anyone else entered the room. At that point, Jerome had finished his meal and Mitch had abandoned his to join the bacca on a walk around the Castle.
