Day Six | Chapter 02: Frothing Despair | To Survive Daily Life
"Good Morning, everyone! It is now 7 AM and Night-Time is officially over! Let's give it our best to have fun today, alright!?"
Amber slowly rose out of the tangle of blankets and pillows, rubbing at her eyes in an attempt to wake herself up better.
She looked around the room, memories of the day before slowly coming back to her as she crawled out of the soft folds of her bed and changed into her casual wear.
After that, she went to the Mess Hall, hardly caring for the cameras that followed her movements down the hall.
The Mess Hall was mostly full when she arrived, everyone looking far less exhausted than the day before.
As Amber sat down, she noticed two people were missing and was half expecting them to walk through the door, only for her mind to bitterly remind her that Lara and Bodil would never come back.
Amber looked over to the others in order to distract her thoughts from Lara and Bodil, willing away the melancholy feeling that came in tow.
Crow and Jay were enjoying their breakfast, Crow's neon colored eyes looking more alive than yesterday. Mango was sitting close by, quietly eating her food.
Mitch and Jerome were also eating food, although Jerome was eating slower than he usually did.
"There's.. There isn't a single trace that she was here... She didn't even get a proper ceremony.. Or a proper burial!"
Amber looked away, thinking about how Jerome had reacted to the disappearance of Lara's body.
Seto looked like he had slept a decent amount while he drank his tea. Amber felt grateful for the return of Seto's calm demeanor.
Maya was doodling in her sketchbook while talking to Jasmine who was eating her own food next to Sub who was doing the same.
Chase was sitting at the end of the table, looking like he had already finished his food judging by his empty plate.
Ty, Jason and Sky were talking amongst each other, their half full plates forgotten.
Amber began to eat her own food next to Seto, listening as Ty began talking about his headphones to Jason, taking them off and handing them to Jason a couple minutes into the conversation.
Crow and Jay began to talk to Mango after finishing their food.
Amber almost felt like this was normal.
Like everyone's lives were always limited to the Castle. Almost as if life outside the Castle had been a dream. A nonexistent figment of her imagination that had only existed a lifetime ago.
Amber felt a small stab of worry at these thoughts, trying to reach to the memories of her life the days before it was so rudely disrupted.
Her school, her friends, her room, all the times she ever ate outside of her house. Anything that authenticated her memories. Anything that told her that there was a world outside the walls of the Castle.
In her sudden search for memorable locations, the image of her home came to mind. Only, it was quickly replaced by the tainted, sickening image that MonoMachine's video had displayed to her.
