Chapter 01| The Start of the Event

Day One | Chapter 01 : To Hope or To Despair | To Survive Daily Life

The Mess Hall was deathly silent as everyone stared amongst one another.

You just gotta kill someone to leave.

Those words were planting horrible thoughts in every single one of those who stood in the Mess Hall. The air was heavy with everyone's worry and confusion, which was slowly developing into an unbearable atmosphere around them.

Amber felt like her legs would buckle if this was kept on for much longer.

Luckily, she wouldn't have to.

"What are you going to do now? Just stare at each other til the sun goes down?" Everyone turned, the atmosphere beginning to dissipate at Seto's words.

"R-Right! Seto's right! We can't just stand here all day staring at each other!" Sky replied, his voice losing it wavering as he spoke.

"That's right! That's never how you win minigames- I know that!" If it weren't for the circumstances of the situation that they all were in, he probably would have said something about the Hunger Games, which he was well known for winning.

Amber let out a breath she was never aware that she was holding as the atmosphere lost it's hostility.

"So, now that we're aware of our situation, I suggest we go ahead and explore the area. It'll give us a good feel of the layout and answer our questions." Seto stated, looking around at everyone, waiting for any objections or suggestions.

"Maybe we'll find a way out?" Amber suggested, looking at everyone around her. They all brightened up considerably at the mention of an escape from their hellish situation.

"Alright. Everyone, let's split up into groups. We'll cover ground a lot faster that way." Seto suggested, seeming to fit into the roll of leader quite well.

"Wait!" Everyone turned to face Jerome, who was holding up his E-Handbook,"Shouldn't we look over the rules? I mean, MonoMachine didn't sound like he was kidding about getting punished for breaking the rules.."

At the name of their monochrome 'host', the atmosphere grew tense.

"While I don't like the idea of being told what to do by that annoying thing, Jerome does make a good point. We can't exactly go about doing whatever we want all Willy nilly."

"Right.. Alright , let's look over the rules, then we can look around." Seto nodded, looking down at his handbook and turning it on.

Amber held up her E-Handbook to her face and switched it on. As the screen lit up, a name came up.

She stared at the screen, a small memory coming to mind but when she focused on it, it became obscured.

This must be the Ultimate title that MonoMachine was so loud about.

She tapped on the screen, and a row of options appeared on the screen. Ignoring the other options, Amber selected Rules.

Rule 1
All Event Attendees are to only reside inside the Castle Grounds as long as the Event lasts.
Leaving the Castle Grounds is an unacceptable waste of time.

Like staying here is any better..

Rule 2
"Night Time" lasts from 10 pm to 7 am. During this time, the water will be turned off and access to certain areas will be restricted. Please exercise caution during these hours.
