* One week later*
My heart raced as I ran towards the spring board on vault.
Lea and mom were watching me practice today because they won't be able to make it to my competition on Saturday.
I was having a private class with Gianna.All of the sudden Lea came running out in front of me. I stopped right before I hit the spring board but unfortunately, my foot swung out from under me and one of the springs cut my foot.
"Owww!" I said. "Laura are you ok!" my mom asked. "Ya I'm fine." I said holding back tears. Mom picked Lea up and said, "I'm going to take her home, I don't think it's safe for Lea to be wandering around here." "Ok." I replied. Before I got back up, I looked down at my foot. Blood was dripping off my foot onto the mat. "Mom!" I shouted. "One second, I need to talk to dad!" She said. "No, it's an emergency please come!" I cried. Mom walked towards me looking nervous. "My foot!!" I said. She gasped. "Laura, stay here I will be back." Gianna said. She came back in about 30 seconds with a non stick pad and some athletic tape. "They put the non stick pad where my gash was and wrapped athletic tape around it. Gianna helped me up and asked if I could walk on my foot. I told her yes even though it really, really hurt to.
When I got in the car, Mom told me we were going to the ER. The drive seemed like forever. Lea was in the back seat watching Peppa Pig. For some reason I felt angry at her. She made me fall and hit the spring board. She is the reason I'm not still at practice.
I stopped thinking about being angry when my foot started to throb. It felt like sharp knives stabbing my foot or like those times when your bare foot in the snow and you put your feet in hot bath to warm up and it feels like your feet are being burned by a hot pan or something like that.
