I walked in to BlueStar. The air conditioning was pumping. Lately it had been very hot outside. It was so close to summertime. (Today was a little different after practice It was going to be 9:00pm that's because today we had a night-ish class)"Laura, come over here!" Paige shouted. I ran across the floor and met her at bars. "What?" I said. Her black leo was covered in chalk. She was upside down adjusting her grips on bar. "Practice bars with me!!" She begged. ( I was like 15 minutes early.) Fine. I kipped onto the bar. Backhipcircle, lunge to high bar, handstand down, up handstand, giant, giant, I pushed off down to the low bar, mill circle, and jump back to high bar, handstand, flyaway, and stick it. I didn't wobble at all. I smiled big and Paige gave me a hug.
I moved to beam. I did a press handstand onto the beam. Arm and leg movements, I punch into a front ariel, leap, more arm and leg movements, back ariel, back ariel, full turn. As my dismount I do a round off backhand spring back tuck. I wobble at bit but I do stick it.
Next is vault. I run as fast as I can. While I'm running I have a flashback. Lea runs towards me and I suddenly stop.
I snap out of it and jump on the spring board. My legs twist and turn in the air. I keep my arms close to my body. I hit the mat feet first taking one small step back.
I sprint to the floor standing where my routine starts. I take a deep breath and start. Back bend chest roll, sprint, back handspring back tuck, split jump,..... "girls come to the floor for warm up!" Gianna said.
When class actually started, Gianna broke the news to us, tomorrow was competition day so we had to condition. Are conditioning list consisted of, 1:30 minute hollow holds, fifty step ups, ten handstand push-ups, fifty crunches, fifty calf raises, 1:00 rope climb, 2:15 plank, two twenty five squats, 1:00 wall handstand, twenty- five laying leg lifts, twenty-five object lifts (on tummy), ten push-ups with feet raised, and lastly stretch.
When conditioning was done, my whole body felt like Jell-O. I took the last sip of my water. We still had about two hours left of practice. I wasn't surprised when she gave us another list of conditioning!!!! This time this is what the list said, 90 sec hand stand against the wall, 90 sec hollow body rocks, 80 lemon squeezers, 60 sec arch rocks, 50 lunges on each leg, 30 pike push-ups, 40 tricep dips, 50 leg lifts, 50 reaches, 50 sec positioned squats.
By the time I was done with those I literally felt dead. When class was over and mom picked me up I fell asleep in the car on the way home.
"Laura, we are home I'll get your gymnastics bag you go upstairs and sleep." I groaned and got out of the car.
