Chapter 4 ~ Insight
I snuggled into Scott's side more as we sat down on the couch, Brax in the chair I had slept in last night. My cup of tea warmed my hands, and the heat coming off of Scott. His arm was around my shoulders, holding me into his side cozily.
"Can you tell me more about werewolves please? Scott didn't tell me anything except that they have mates," I asked before taking a sip of my tea.
"Werewolf is what humans prefer to name us as, we're Lycans. Old mythical wolf creatures that live in packs, such as my pack, the Black Moon pack. Um, my position as Alpha is like the leader of the pack, and Scott, my Beta, is second in command, and our Third in Command is our best friend, Matt."
"What are mates?"
Scott sighed loudly, "I told you all this, this morning!"
I stuck my tongue out and retorted, "you're very dense. Soul mates? I have no idea about that!"
Brax chuckled, "mates are inseparable, and as my idiot Beta said, that are soul mates. Soul mates are two people who are meant to be together, like they were suited for each other-"
"Suited for each other? He's a werewolf! I'm a." I hesitated for a second. "Human."
"It's not like that, my mate, Bridget is human, yet she is an amazing Luna."
"Luna?" I asked, frowning.
"The Alpha's mate," Scott replied. His voice was so husky and sexy I wanted to do something to him I really shouldn't in front of company. "The Alpha female, so to speak. You would be the Beta female, as you're my mate."
I nodded slowly, "okay. Beta female. I like it." I grinned up at Scott, and he looked very relieved. He smiled and gently pecked my lips.
"I think Bridget will like to talk to you, she's been dying to talk to another girl," Brax smiled.
I felt nervous, but had a good feeling about these people. I nodded, and offered Scott a small reassuring smile when he had frowned. I was scared to be around people, but I would try, for him. I'm an angel, I've not interacted with humans for only God knows how long. It's going to be scary, but as long as I have Scott, I'll be fine.
"Nina, don't worry about it. I'm always watching you, don't worry about a thing, pet," Angel Percy's voice drifted in my head.
"But what if they don't like me?" I asked in my head.
"I have no idea why they wouldn't like you. You're an amazing young girl. You're polite, kind, caring, funny, a tad annoying, but you always care about others before yourself."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive, poppet. Knock them out."
"Thanks."
"Nina, babe, you okay? You sorta blanked out for a few minutes?" Scott asked.
I nodded and smiled, "I'm fine. Just caught up in my thoughts." I kissed his cheek, then cuddled back into his side, yawning.
"I better be back to Bridget, she'll kill me if I'm not back for dinner. It was lovely to meet you, Nina," Brax said, standing up. Scott and I stood up also, his arm around my waist.
"It was a pleasure to meet you too, Brax. I hope we can see each other again soon," I replied with a smile.
He smiled back warmly, "yeah, definitely. See you later!" He called as he ran out the front door and into the woods.
