***Simone's POV***

The sun peeked through my window and danced on my eyelids causing me to wake up.
Tuesday morning.
I stretched. It's another day. Another day that I can't wait for school to be over so I can be with Trey. I checked my phone to see if he had returned my calls.

1 New voice message

I decided to check the voice message first. It would be nice for Trey's voice to be the first I hear when I wake up. Unfortunately it was just Josh checking up on me. The message, however, was from Trey.

Trey: hey babe. Sorry for taking so long to reply. I was kinda preoccupied with some family matters. Can't wait to c u later.

I smiled. He misses me.

I kept the smile plastered on my face as I walked to the bathroom. This is going to be a great day.

I bumped into someone.

"Dad. What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Well good morning to you too, Cupcake."

I hugged him tight. I haven't seen him in a month.

"You're invading my space soldier." He said into my hair.  I laughed lightly then let him go. My dad is in the army and would be gone for months at a time.

"Well why are you here?" I inquired again.
He sighed heavily and walked into my room. I trailed behind him.
"I'm here to solve the murder case."

Samantha.

"Dad its not a murder. It was a car accident."

Dad had a stone cold face. "Someone killed my daughter and fled the scene of the crime. I'm going to find that son of a-"
"DAD!" I hated when he was this angry. I know he is a determined man. He'll not let one stone go unturned. He's going to find the driver of that car.

"Will you be here when I get home from school?" I asked.

"Yes. I got some time off from work....to morn my loss." I hugged him and felt his racing heart slowing down.

"Mr. Channer!" A familiar voice said. "Can I  borrow my wife for a sec. We're actually late for school."

My father laughed and let me go.
"Joshua Bowers." He greeted Josh. "You're still quite the comedian."

I left them hugging as I went to get ready. I hope Dad will like Trey as much as he likes Josh.

A few moments later we were in Josh's car with Bob Marley blaring on the radio. Josh was silent which was unusual for him.

"Josh what's wrong?" I asked. He was clutching the steering wheel with furrows in his brows. He kept his eyes focus on the road.
"Josh." I shoved him lightly.

"What!" he shouted.

I stared at him in disbelief. What did I do wrong?

He sighed deeply. "Sim I'm sorry " he apologized.

"What was that for? Tell me what's wrong J."

"Oh how I wish I could tell you." He muttered under his breath as we drove into the school yard.

What is he hiding?

"I'm going to find out anyway so you might as well tell me right now." I demanded.

A smirked appeared on his face. He leaned over and kissed my cheek. "Honey. We will discuss this when we get home and the kids are gone to bed." He joked.

I punched him in his arm for being a jerk. We got out of his car and walked into the courtyard.

"Well well well. If it isn't Simone the fashion disaster." A voice said from behind us. I spun around to see Davia and her clones. She's hated me since 8th grade. I don't know what I ever did to her.
"What do you want Miss Dumb - I mean Miss Davia." I rebutted.

I could see her getting angry but putting up a brave face. "A little birdie told me that you're paying your friend James to take you to the ball. How pathetic." She spitted.

"Who's James?" I was confused.

"The dork is standing right beside you." Davia laughed.

"His name is Josh and he's not paying me." I looked over at Josh. He was smiling from ear to ear. He looked like a clown. Whats wrong with him?

"Oh he's doing it for free? I had no idea he was into charity." Davia and her clones laughed. "Unlike you, I have  guys falling over themselves to go with me." She was pure evil.
I stood there as they walked away.

Josh was still smiling as his eyes lingered on their retreating bodies. I slapped him out of his daydream.

"Ouch!" he wailed. "What's that for?"

"Close your mouth honey." I said dramatically. "You are drooling."

"Did you not see what just happened?" he asked, sounding excited.

"What?" I asked.

"Davia Prince just talked to us. You know what this means? We are moving up the high school's social ladder."

What? Did I slap him too hard?  Because he's obviously losing his mind.

"Actually, she spoke to me. And insulted you." I tried to pull him from his fantasy world.
"Still, we're moving up the ladder." He said letting his fingers play on my arm in a walking manner.
I rolled my eyes and started to walk away.

"Sim we need to catch up on some Need For Speed. You can come over after school. I'll drop you home afterwards." Josh said.

"I-I-I have some stuff to do after school. Ill be in the library for a while." I stuttered. "Maybe tomorrow."

"Wow. You're really going full out. You've never said no to Need For Speed before. This must be important. Tomorrow then. Its a date. Don't blow me off honey." He smiled and walked off to his math class.

I hate disappointing Josh but I really look forward to spending time with Trey each evening. Ill make it up to him tomorrow.

Just six hours left before I see my lover boy.....that sounds gross.

Riiiiiing!

The warning bell pulled me from my thoughts. I hurried to Biology class. A class I shared with my nemesis, Davia.
