Zania P.O.V.
"Nia!" I laugh while picking Marli up after she excitedly ran and hugged my legs to death. I felt like I haven't seen her in forever and I missed my boo. She was growing up so fast and she was crazy pretty. She literally looks like the girl version of Ian, from the same skin complexion, same head shape, and mannerisms.

"Hey my boo, I haven't seen you in forever. Why you haven't come to see me." I attack her with kisses as she laughed struggling to get out of my grip.

"I spend time with mommy and daddy now." She smiled while playing with my hair.

"Is that right? Do you like spending time with them?"

She eagerly nodded. "Yes, mommy plays with me and we have girls day and daddy paints my nails and toes." She giggles making me laugh.

I carried her into the kitchen with me as I sat my book bag down at the kitchen table and sat her up on the counter.

"Oh good you're here, did you plan on staying until Ian gets here?"

I turned and nodded my head at Aunt Summer who I met a few weeks ago. She is so down to earth and nice and we instantly connected. The resemblance her and Ian share is crazy and that was the first thing I noticed about her. If you never met Ian's mom you could guess that Aunt Summer could be his mom but I guess their genes are just that strong.

"Yeah I'll be here for a while, thanks for picking Marli up from daycare for me."

"Of course, I told you not to worry about that. All you and Ian need to worry about is finishing off this last year and let me handle little miss Marli." She walked over and hugged me while kissing Marli on the cheek.

"Did you talk to him today." I mumbled a bit sadly.

"He only called to ask me if I could pick Marli up from school since you had practice. Other then that he doesn't really talk to me."

"Me neither." I look down at my feet avoiding her gaze.

"Look I know you might be upset by his behavior but just try to understand where is he coming from. His grandmother is his pride and joy and he's hurting right now. Just be patient with him."

I nodded. "I try, but we don't even speak to each other any more. If we do talk it's short and straight to the point. I can't get him to eat anything and he's always angry." I exhale trying to remain calm.

"Yeah I know love and I'll try to talk to him. I promise."

I nodded and gave her another hug as she told us she had to get home to make dinner. I walked her to the front door and made sure she got to her car safe before walking to the kitchen to find Marli on my phone.

"You wanna help me cook big girl?" I ask getting her attention.

"Yes." She climbed down from the counter and went to go get her stool that she stands on when she helps me cook or wash the dishes.

Maybe having a hot meal ready will help Ian be in a better mood when he gets home. Lately I've tried everything to get on his good side but nothing seems to ever work. It's like we're strangers that just walk around each other. I normally come over everyday to help Marli with her homework if she isn't with her parents and make sure she eats before I go back home. Our relationship is sorta on the rocks as of now, I don't spend the night anymore and he doesn't bother to ask me to. It bothers me that we aren't how we use to be but I understand the situation.

"Nia?" I came back from my thoughts to look over at Marli.

"Yeah boo?"

"Is nana gonna be okay?" Her little eyes held worry in them and that instantly made my eyes burn with tears.
