Skyler placed her hand on my forehead and hummed. I was happy to see her. The last time I saw her was in my nightmare, tears spearing down her face and her guy friend walking away. It aches my heart to see how much Skyler cared about me. Even though we talked twice, she showed me kindness.
"Don't take kindness for granted."
Her doe eyes gazed at me and a warm smile appeared on her face. I smiled back weakly and tapped her hand. The guys wouldn't let me speak unless it was something that I wanted. For the past of couple of days they treated me like a baby and it was getting quite annoying. The only time I had for myself was at night because that was when everyone went to sleep. Miles would sometimes stay up to watch me fall asleep but it was me who would watch him fall asleep. He was tired of taking care of me, I know, and maybe I was tired of letting simple shit like a nightmare take a toll on me.
I was getting better, actually, I was better but the only person who seemed to hear me was Skyler, Dayton, Asher, and Dario. The others were either freaking out, watching me like a hawk, or asking me if I was okay. I've been in my room for three days and I'm close to going nuts—literally.
"No fever again," Skyler announced.
"I stopped having a fever two days ago," I said and sighed. "I wished Miles would let me leave."
"I find it cute," she commented. "He's protecting you."
"He's annoying. All of them are."
Skyler giggled and placed my missing homework next to me. "Here's what you missed. Did you call your parents?"
I winced at the question. If I told them that I fainted and went through a somewhat real life nightmare, I don't think they'll bring me back here. They'll go crazy and tell Dakota and then everyone will start worrying. I didn't want that.
I sighed. "No but I will soon. I wouldn't be surprised if Miles already called them."
Ever since we got back to college, he would call them and tell them how we're doing (for my sake). I told him multiple times that I was okay but he could see right through me and see that I was nothing but okay. It's not like I wanted to pour all my distressed state at him when it was his last year. He had other things to do than to babysit me. Same goes for the others.
"You know we're doing this because we care," Skyler said sincerely.
I smiled and said, "I know. Thank you."
As much I wanted to tell them to fuck off they cared. The least I could say was thank you. Skyler started to pack her things when the door opened. We turned our heads to see Pierce and Junior walking inside. Junior quickly walked towards me and gave me a weary smile.
I furrowed my eyebrows and asked him, "What's wrong?"
He bit his bottom lip and said softly, "Nothing." His brown eyes showed relief and happiness.
"He thought something happened to you," Pierce confessed and cleared his throat. "I also...thought something happened to you too." He said it quietly and I could see the faint blush on his cheeks. My heart thumped when the thought of Pierce worrying about me. For three days he was concerned about my health and if I was having more nightmares. I told him truthfully that I wasn't and he looked happier than ever. It puzzled me how someone who doesn't know about me that well cares about me.
"Aw how cute. Well I'm leaving. Tell Miles that this is my last check up," Skyler said and grabbed my hand to squeeze it. I squeezed her hand and let go.
"Wait why?" Junior asked confusingly.
"Jasper's fine. Healthy wise. Just don't overwhelm him with questions and let him do what he wants to do."
