*Adam's pov
I pulled into my driveway and parked. "Did that really happen?" I asked myself as I turned off the car. I sat there a minute staring at the house thinking. Was I dreaming there? I considered myself a pretty sane person, ghosts never something I believed, but how do I explain what I saw and heard? I shook the thought and headed inside. I'll deal with that tomorrow, maybe Gianna can help me out there. I opened the door and was greeted instantly by Frankie. "Hey baby" I said smiling crouching down to pet her. "Hi good girl" I said rubbing her belly. I shut the door, "come on girl let's go outside" I said leading her to the back yard. I checked the time, 11:00. I sighed and watched Frankie play and run around. I brought her in at 11:30 and we curled up in bed. I smiled and pet her until she drifted to sleep. On the other hand I laid awake thinking. She is amazing, I feel so connected to her, but the ghost thing. I sighed, I know that happened, and if it's true then she's still grieving, a lot. It's not like I can ask her out on a date. She's in love with Keith, yes he's dead but it hasn't been that long. I groaned softly what do I do now? "Keith if you really can talk to me now would be helpful, what do I do, you know Gianna better" I said softly to the dark, quiet room. "You're funny, that's why she likes you" he said. "Why am I funny?" I asked. "You have no idea whether or not to believe her, yet you're asking me for help, and now you want to know if you should ask her on a date?" He laughed. I sighed, "yes okay yes. I know that happened, clearly it did because I'm talking to you! I guess I knew it all along, but I really like her Keith. I know I just met her but she's special, I should know I've known quite a few women and none of them have that spark, that sort of innocence is hard to come by and it drew me in faster than I ever imagined" I said.
Keith was silent a minute, "ask her, she'll refuse at first I know she will, but she has always had a crush on you. Every birthday she'd sing happy birthday to you and wish to meet you. This is a dream come true for her, take your time and be good to her" he said. "Every birthday? A dream come true? Keith come on that's a bit much" I said. "Trust me, get to sleep you have to give her a tour tomorrow" he said and I nodded, "night Keith" I said and I drifted to sleep thinking about everything that happened and how I really felt. The next morning I was up early, earlier than I needed to be. Frankie was still fast asleep at the foot of the bed. She is the best dog ever. I watched her lovingly a moment before taking a shower. I dressed and looked at the clock, 9:00. An hour before I needed to be at the studio. I bit my lip, "I wonder if Gianna's up" I thought aloud. I slipped on some shoes and headed to her house. This was a shot in the dark but why not, she doesn't have a car. I rang the bell and waited patiently. "Hang on!" I heard and I heard her bare feet hitting the floor as she ran. "Hel... Adam" she said seeing me. "Hey Gianna, I was gonna go get breakfast before work and thought you'd like to join me... Maybe?" I said. She smiled, "sure just let me get dressed, come on in" she offered and stepped aside. "Thanks" I said softly. I made myself at home on the couch while she changed. A few minutes later she was walking out holding her vans looking stunning in her black skinny jeans, and white v neck shirt. I smiled, admiring her style. "What?" She asked smiling staring at me. "Oh nothing, come on slow poke" I said standing as she finished. "Impatient Levine," she said shaking her head. "A little" I said and walked her out. "So uh about last night... I'm sorry about that whole ghost thing, I get it if you think it's too muchp" she said slipping into the car.
I shook my head smiling and walked around getting in. "At first it was a lot to wrap my head around, and watching you get into that car crash was hard, I felt the impact where Keith was and I thought I was going to die. Then last night, I uh had some trouble sleeping and uh, we talked" I said still confused about talking to a ghost. "Oh, really? A...about what?" She asked. "You" I said honestly. "Me?" She said curiously as I pulled up to Starbucks and parked. I nodded, "yes about you" I said and got out walking around to open her door. She stared at me, "what about me?" She asked and I shut the door. "Well whether or not I truly believed what was happening, and I do and that you are a very special girl" I said leaving out the part about asking her out. "Is that it?" She asked. Do I lie? She'll probably be pissed if I do. "I asked if I should ask you on a date" I admitted. "Oh," she said seeming shocked. "What did he say?" She asked softly as we approached the counter. We placed our order and I paid. I waited until we sat down at a table in the back before I answered. She was anxious and fidgety. I smiled, "he said and I quote, "ask her, she'll refuse at first I know she will, but she has always had a crush on you. Every birthday she'd sing happy birthday to you and wish to meet you. This is a dream come true for her, take your time and be good to her" " I told her. She blushed, "I didn't think he knew that," she said and smiles some and wiped her eyes. "Was this you asking me out?" She asked. I shook my head, "no this was picking up my employee so she wouldn't get lost" I said staring. "I say we get you a car with a programmable gps" I smirked teasing her. She giggled, "sounds good" she laughed, and we ate in silence for a few minutes.
We didn't speak again until we got in the car and headed for the studio, "he's right, I probably would say no at first," she admitted. I smiled, "I wouldn't blame you" I said, "you've been through a lot, I can't imagine what you're going through" I said as I pulled into the studio parking lot. "It's much harder than you think, honestly the only thing getting me through it was maroon 5" she said as she walked through the door after I unlocked it. She headed straight to her desk leaving me holding the door open, mouth open too. "I'd walk in, shut the door and your mouth, people will start to stare" she said matter of factly. I smiled and walked in shutting the door and my mouth. "And that is why you are so amazing! You don't give a shit that I'm the frontman of a band you just treat me like any other guy!" I said happily. "Oh trust me I do give a shit, sometimes it's hard to breathe and think of you otherwise, you were my inspiration for being in the industry in the first place" she said smiling. "Aww! Well I'm honored!" I said making her blush. "You're cute when you blush" I noted aloud. "Ohh Levine did you just compliment a girl?!" Rozzi shouted as she entered the lobby. "Hi Roz, and yes I did" I said eyeing her. "This is Gianna, Gianna, Rozzi Crane." I said introducing them. "Nice to meet you, I heard you yesterday you are amazing!" She gushed. "Aww thanks hun!" Rozzi said and hugged her. "You get in there and make all you're corrections now, I want to record straight through" I said. "Yes sir yes sir" she said with a wink. I rolled my eyes, "ah I thought I was bad quoting lyrics for just about everything!" Gianna laughed. It was the most beautiful sound in the world. "Come on I'll show you around" I said.
I led her down the halls showing her all the studio rooms and the equipment and how it works. "Ooh I read about this in class" she said smiling. "Read about it? It's nothing like using it" I smirked. "Can I?" She asked. I nodded and headed into the booth while she played a random sample track. I started singing it as she messed with board. She seemed so excited. I belted out the song and faded as it ended. "That was so much fun!" She said hitting the mic on her end. I laughed, "one more song?" She asked. I nodded and the next one started. She started messing around and stopped when I started singing, "beauty queen of only 18 she had some trouble with herself." Her eyes watered and I looked at her worried. She wiped at her eyes and motioned for me to keep singing. Reluctantly I did as she asked. I got to the chorus and she dropped into the chair and laid her head on the board. I tossed the headphones and ran out of the booth slamming open the door and let it bounce off the wall, "shit Gianna, what's wrong? What happened?" I asked kneeling beside her, my hands on her knees. Her body shook, "Gianna, babe talk to me" I begged. She shook her head, "please I want to help, please you can trust me" I begged. Her crying didn't slow a bit, finally I pulled her on my lap and held her close. "It's okay, it's okay" I whispered. "Yo Adam are we..." Rozzi said walking in. "Oh sorry" she said. She cocked her head to the side, "hey sweetie, can I help?" She asked Gianna, seeing I was getting nowhere. Gianna shook her head buried in my neck. "Alright, well Adam is a great listener, you're in good hands" she said smiling. The phone rang again, "I'll get that" Rozzi said leaving the room and shutting the door. "Gianna, come on what happened?" I begged. Her crying slowed slightly as she wiped her eyes looking up at me. "I am so sorry" she said wiping her eyes again. "I...I've just been avoiding that song since Keith died... I knew it would be hard but I didn't think it would be that hard." "Gianna, you don't have to be sorry, it's okay, everything is going to be hard for a while," I told her rubbing her back.
She shook her head, "no that was our song" she whispered. I brushed her hair back, "it will be okay I promise Gianna, it will" I whispered and kissed the top of her head. "You don't understand that song... That song has a lot of meaning to me" she said. I nodded trying to follow. She sniffled and stood up, wiping at her eyes, "I uh should get back to the phone, Rozzi shouldn't be answering them" she said and walked quickly out to the lobby. I sighed, why am I falling so hard for her? I barely know her, I thought. "You told me last night" Keith said raring his head into my business. "Not helping" I said. "It is, you love her because she's different and special" he said. "That doesn't matter she loves you" I groaned. "She loves you and not because you're Adam Levine, but because you actually care and you believed her. You and those guys in the band are the only thing that got her through the first few days, you've been her rock for a long time, long before I met her. She's had some hard times, so hard she didn't tell me. Stick with her, date her, fall in love, and make her fall in love with you, I need to know someone will be there for her. Please promise me" he begged and it brought tears to my eyes, "I promise" I whispered, my voice cracking. "Adam? Shawn's on the line and says he wants to know about touring, you never called back" she said walking in. I nodded, "coming" I said and got up wiping my eyes. How can I keep this promise and start a new tour? I sighed, I'll make it work, I have to.
