Oh, you are my one and only.
You can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.

Finally we're at the food depot!

"Let's split up." I suggested. I went down the middle of the depot, Ben went to the left, and Iain went to the right. I scanned the shelves and filled my bag with any food that hadn't perished.

I stopped at a row of honey. Ever since it was a kid I hated honey, but now my mouth was watering for it. I licked my lips them reached for a bottle. I quickly opened it and drained it of its contents. I grabbed another and ate all of it too. I put a couple if bottles of honey in my bag then moved on. I saw a few jars of pickles and ate a few of those also, then put them in my bag. Wow, I didn't know I was this hungry. By then my bag was full and I went back to the front of the building to meet up with the boys. Their bags were filled too and we headed back to camp.

...

"Ben you almost done packing?" I asked standing at our tent's entrance.

"Yeah, almost."

"Ok. I'll go tell Peter we're almost ready to leave." I left the tent and headed over to Peter's.

"Peter?" I entered his tent and he was looking at a map along with two other skitters. Peter gestured to the skitters and they left.

"Hello, Ashley." He said in my head.

"Hey, Peter. Ben and I are almost ready to go talk to Tom. Are your friends ready?" He had a large group of skitters that were going to accompany us.

He slowly walked forward, staring at me. His eyes widened and he looked down and reached for my stomach.

"What are you-"

"Shhh." He hushed. He closed his eyes as his hand rested on my skinny belly. He looked up at me. "You're pregnant."

"W-what?!" I said.

"You didn't know? Listen." He took my hand and put it on my stomach. I could hear Peter & I's loud heartbeats, but I could also hear a faint flutter. I gasped and took my hand away.

"No this can't be!" I whispered to myself.

"Well it is. You know, I've never heard an unborn child's heart beat; it's quite interesting." He seemed intrigued with the little person inside of my stomach.

"How am I supposed to tell Ben?" I was getting a little panicked.

"I'm not sure. Relationships are different for you humans than they are for my kind. You would have to, as they say, 'Follow your heart'."

I took a few deep breaths and nodded. I'll tell him after we go to Charleston, I thought.

"Please don't tell Ben or anyone else." I requested, and he nodded in agreement.

"My lips are sealed."

...

We were at the secret entrance of the capital, the scouts found it. There were no guards, but we expected to see them once we got inside. Ben and I were in the back of the group of skitters, there were 15 of them, poised and ready to go.

We were given the signal by Red-eye, then made our way quickly inside. A minute later the alarms screamed loud in our ears. Ben and I kept low and to the back of the group the whole way to the main area of the building. When we got there the skitters jumped from the top if the escalator straight to the floor without any trouble. Ben and I slid down the railing with ease and hid in the middle of the skitters, who made a protective circle around us.
