A/N:
If there is any confusion, when people talk about Benjamin, they're talking about the baby. Ben, his father, will still be called Ben. (If that helps any lol)

*Ashley's POV*
Depression took over me after I found out all the things that could be wrong with Benjamin. Dr. Marcus won't let me, Ben, or anyone else see Benjamin until he can get better. I want to see my baby, but I don't want to risk getting him any more sick than he already is.
I laid on the bed staring at the ceiling, I have no idea what to do. Tom advised I stay on maternity leave for a few more days and without Ben or Benjamin I'm completely alone all day in this room. I hear the door click open and see Ben walk in.
"Hey what are you doing here? I thought you had patrol all afternoon?" I sat up and Ben sat on the edge of the bed.
"I did, but I asked Weaver if I could take the day off."
"Why?"
"Well we have some planning to do."
What is he talking about? "For?'
"The wedding!" he smiled.
Crap I forgot about the wedding. "Ben are you sure right now is a good time to talk about this? I mean our baby is sick right now-"
"That's exactly why we should talk about this now. I've seen how depressed you've been lately and I think planning the wedding will help keep your mind busy and off of Benjamin."
I looked at my hands, maybe he's right. If we plan the wedding now maybe when we're ready to get married Benjamin will be better. "Ok." I smiled up at him, "Where do we start?"
Ben paused, "I thought you knew." he laughed.
"Um, I've never planned a wedding, or even been to one, so I'm definitely not the best person for this." I laughed too, the first time I've laughed in too long. "Maybe we should ask Tom and Anne?" I suggested.
"Good idea." We left our room and went to Anne and Tom's. When we got to their room we knocked and they told us to enter.
"Hey Anne and Tom," I smiled as Ben and I walked into their room. Tom was looking over some paperwork while Anne was eating. "We were wondering if you would help us with wedding plans? Neither of us have any idea what we're supposed to do."
"No problem." Tom smiled and gestured for us to sit on the couch. He took out a blank piece of paper and a pen. "So how big do you want the wedding to be?"
"Small." Ben and I said. Tom asked us a few more questions and we concluded on a small wedding of close family and friends, it would be short and simple.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, "Tom, do you think Benjamin will be healthy enough to bring him to the wedding? I know you talked to the doctor yesterday and I haven't gotten an update on his condition."
"He's getting better," Tom smiled a little, but it went away, "but the tests came back and Benjamin has jaundice."
I nodded, trying to avoid crying.
"Luckily he says that it looks like he's getting better, but you two won't be able to take him yet. Dr. Marcus had some guys make photo-therapy lights (picture on sidebar) to help treat the jaundice."
"So how long do we have to wait for him to get better?" Ben asked, leaning in.
"About two weeks or so if the treatment works."
I looked at Ben, "I can wait a few weeks to get married if you can." He nodded and we stood up.
"Thanks for all of you help." Ben thanked his father and we left their room.
*Tom's POV*
I sighed and looked back down at all the papers I had to finish.
"Do you really think this is a good idea?" Anne spoke up from her spot on the bed.
"What?"
"Those two getting married." She gestured to the door with disapproval on her face.
I sat up, "I think it's great that they're getting married. Why, you don't?"
"No not at all!" She scoffed. "They are way too young and I'm just afraid they're too far in their lovey-dubby land to see that."
How could she think that? "Anne, listen to me. Ben and Ashley are very mature for their ages, and I know they thought long and hard about this decision. I've seen Ashley grow up into the woman she is today, and I'm so proud of her for getting past the mistakes she made in her life. I'm proud to say that Ben is with Ashley."
Anne's mouth dropped a little, "I'm just worried about them. I know how young love works and if this ends, it's going to end badly. I've seen it with my own eyes and I can't stand to think about either of them getting hurt. You saw what happened when Ashley rejected Hal."
I do remember all too clearly. After I came back to the 2nd Mass. Hal was severely depressed, and I had to find out from Maggie that Ashley rejected him for Ben; I hadn't seen Hal act like that since Rita broke up with him in High School. I knew for a long time that Hal had a thing for Ashley, but since he started dating other girls I dismissed it as a crush, apparently I was wrong. I still see the way Hal looks at Ashley and the contempt in his eyes when he sees Ben, it breaks my heart.
I cleared my throat. "I don't want Ashley and Ben to get hurt either, but we can't tell them they can't get married. What would we say, that they're grounded and can't see each other? We live in a different world now where not only do kids grow up and become soldiers but they also fall in love faster and harder than ever before because they don't know how long they have left to live. I support them and I plan on being there to help them with any marital problems they may have, and I hope you will be by my side when I do it."
Anne nods her head and sighs, "If you feel that way then I'll support your decision, and hope for the best."
