The two wizards had moved a little further away from us. It seems to be of something important to discuss, not concerning us it seems. Each of us were doing a few tasks before we moved on. My eyes kept wandering to the girl who wasn't standing far from me. She was helping Bombur with food supplies & was also talking to Kili. While talking I saw she was running her fingers through her long black hair. Curiously, I could not help thinking what it might feel like through my fingers. I could feel someone's eyes on me turning it was Balin & he was smiling knowingly, I shrugged, tried to act aloof. But then again he has known me ever since I was younger. Then I heard a familiar howl not far from us. It cannot be!
Bilbo: "Wolves! Are there wolves out there?"
Bofur: "Wolves!? No, that is no wolf!"
True, it wasn't, then I saw the creature & it leaped towards Bifur but it flinched for Anya Hadin had thrown one of her daggers at its neck. I finished it off with my new sword. Then, Kili shot his arrow at something above my head, shocked I looked up, another one? Dwalin killed it with his axe, the commotion attracted the two wizards, heading towards us.
Thorin:(Pulling my sword out)"Warg scouts! Which means an orc pack are not far behind."
Bilbo: "An orc pack?"
Gandalf: "Who did you tell about your quest beyond your kin?"
Thorin: "No one...!"
Gandalf:(Sternly)"Who did you tell?"
Thorin: "No one, I swear! What in Durin's name is going on?"
Anya: "I'm afraid that you are being hunted, Thorin!"
I stared at the girl, shocked. Wait a minute, did she know about this? Had the Wizard told her about the price on my head?, my inner voice spoke up.
Dwalin: "Thorin, we need to get out of here now!"
Ori: "We can't, we have no ponies. They've bolted."
They've bolted? All of them? Wait, even Anya's horse, Eva? I turned to look at the girl, as expected she was shocked. But Kili managed to calm her, I just shook my head wondering what to do next.
Radagast: "I shall hold them off while you lot make a run for it."
Gandalf: "These are Gundabad Wargs, they shall outrun you!"
Radagast: "These are Rhosgobel Rabbits. I'd like to see them try."
Right, now this ought to be interesting! Soon the brown wizard took off with his Rhosgobel Rabbits in top speed. Sure enough the orc pack began chasing them, but they could not keep up! Gandalf seems to know the area well, so we followed him & avoided being spotted by the orcs. We kept ourselves pretty much hidden though. At one point we were about to round a bent but we had to stop for they were close by. But Ori kept on running.
Thorin:(Grabbing his collar)"Ori no, get back!"
Safe, but had to keep going, as we made a run for it again. Somehow at the back of my mind I sensed a hidden motive from both the wizard & the girl.
Thorin: "Where are you leading us?"
The Wizard did not answer & the girl simply shrugged her shoulders, typical. Had no choice but to follow them, curse it. Then I noticed Anya gesturing to Gandalf that we were spotted by one of the orcs. We ran to hide behind a boulder, I could sense that orc on top of us, so did Anya. She was sandwiched between me & Kili, as she tried to lean forward. I held her back by placing my arm across her body, it definitely sent that pleasant sensation again but I held it down to focus our present situation. I gestured to Kili to kill it before the warg picked up our scent. Kili nocked an arrow in the bow & fired the shot but the accursed creature made too much noise as it fell. The orc stood up to charge at us but Dwalin slammed his axe on it, Bifur & I joined in to finish them both.
Anya: "Uh, Gandalf! I believe they figured out where we are!"
She was right, the orc pack recruited & headed straight for us.
Gandalf: "Quickly! Run!"
We followed him yet the orcs came closer, soon we were surrounded, we turned the other way. We were out in the open, to my dismay the wizard suddenly disappeared. Where is he? Anya must have sensed something wrong for she had pulled her bow & arrows out.
Bilbo: "Where is Gandalf?"
Dwalin: "He has abandoned us!"
Curse that wizard! Leaving us in the lurch like this. So we had no choice but to fight them. They were everywhere, I pulled my new sword out as well.
Thorin: "Everyone, stand your ground! Kili, Anya, shoot them!"
Fili: "We are surrounded!"
Both of them began shooting our enemy, simultaneously, one of the orcs almost charged towards Ori but Anya pulled him to safety. Then I heard a familiar voice behind me, Gandalf?
Gandalf: "This way you, fools!"
He was underneath those rocks, I ordered the company to join him while I stood guard. One by one they slid inside, one of the wargs charged towards us but I killed it with my sword. Everyone made it besides myself, Kili & Anya, they were still shooting.
Thorin: "Kili, Anya, lets go!"
Kili: "Anya, come on, we have to go!"
Kili ran towards me but Anya kept shooting the orcs, what is she doing?
Anya: "You go on ahead, I will catch up with you later."
Kili & I just gaped at her. Leave her behind? No way! The company was getting pretty much attached to her. Curse it. I urged Kili to get down below my eyes still on the girl.
Thorin: "Don't be stubborn, woman. Just get down here, now!"
But she ignored me & kept shooting, she is so infuriating sometimes. I was almost tempted to run to her & sling her over my shoulders to bring her down with us. But the orcs came closer, curse it, had no choice but to leave her. I jumped down to join the others.
Bilbo: "Wait, where is Anya Hadin?"
The others had the same question in their eyes I refrained to answer them. Before Kili could answer we heard a battle horn being blown. A few minutes later a body of an orc came tumbling down towards us. Gandalf poked it with his staff, it was dead. Which means they were attacked by some horse riders. But once I pulled out the arrow from the orc's body, I recognized it immediately.
Thorin:(Disgusted)"Elves!"
I gave the wizard an accusing glare, before I could say anything.
Dwalin: "I cannot see the pathway from here. Do we follow it or not?"
Bofur: "Follow it, of course!"
Gandalf: "I think that would be wise."
I heard that of course, I huffed then followed the others through the path between a mountain it seems. Soon we came out to the open area, there before us lay a breathtaking valley. I was taken aback by its beauty, no doubt reminded me of Erebor, but was spoiled the moment the wizard spoke.
Gandalf: "The hidden valley of Imaldris, the last homely house, east of sea. In a common tongue however is known as...!"
Bilbo: "Rivendell!"
So even the hobbit knew, must have read about from his books. I turned towards the Wizard, feeling a little betrayed.
Thorin: "So this was your plan all along? To seek refuge with our enemy?"
Gandalf: "There are no enemies here, Thorin Oakenshield. Besides the ill-will you shall bring in this valley upon yourself."
Thorin:(Annoyed)"You think that the elves shall give us their blessings to our quest & continue? They will try to stop us!"
Gandalf: "Of course they will but there are some questions that need to be answered."
I sighed, knowing the fact that Gandalf was right we do need answers.
Gandalf: "Now, if we have to be successful we need to handle this with tact, a little respect & a small degree of charm. Which is why you must leave the talking to me."
We followed the wizard by crossing the bridge till we reached a courtyard. My mind kept wandering back to Anya, I hope she is safe. The little minx must have known about what the wizard was planning all along. I just hope those filthy orcs hadn't captured her. I might never forgive myself if anything happens to her. For some odd reason Gandalf does not look worried about her. Then I saw an Elf coming down the stairs, he saw us. I alerted the others to stay sharp. Gandalf began talking to the elf in their language, perfect! Then we heard that same horn again, next a group of horse riders entered, crossing the bridge. They were those elves, curse it.
Thorin: "Close ranks, quickly."
Dwalin pulled the hobbit in the middle as we formed a circle, our weapons drawn. The riders began to encircle us, emotionless as expected. There among one of the riders, to my great shock was Anya Hadin. She was riding with an elf with a long brown hair & she was smiling & waving at us? What in the name of Durin is she doing?1546 words!
