Naturally I was surprised at this hostile tone Anya used. Speaking to the elf standing before us. I notice the blonde Elf was staring at her, they were about the same height just a few inches taller than her. I place my hand on her arm, slowly she lowered her weapon. I didn't want any problems come near or even close to her. The elves came near us, then I heard a slight commotion behind me & Fili's alarmed voice.
Fili: "KILI!"
I glanced about me, besides Kili, Bilbo was still missing. But a few minutes later Kili joined us being accompanied by a she-elf with long red hair. The elves began to search us, I saw Anya handing over her weapons to them. Next to me I saw another elf removing Fili's many knives & such. That nephew of mine! I could see the red-haired elf, she was talking to the blonde elf who I believe happens to be their leader. Typical, not impressed. I stepped closer to Anya, who could understand their language.
Anya: "The She-elf's name is Tauriel, she is the captain. The blond one is called Legolas. They are talking about the spider attacks. It seems we ran into them while they were patrolling."
I for one did not care about that, my main concern was how are we going to escape. We are running out of time. Next, this Legolas was searching Gloin, he pulled out his family portrait.
Gloin: "Oi, that is private."
Yet Legolas opened the portrait.
Legolas: "Who is this? Is this your brother?"
Gloin: "That is my wife."
I rolled my eyes, obviously these elf was clueless. The female dwarfs tend to have some facial beards. Of course they were often mistaken to be male ones.
Legolas: "Who is this ugly creature? A half goblin?"
Gloin: "That is my wee lad, Gimli."
The redhead she-elf walked up to Anya, she was about her height. She reached out holding her locket, I felt myself going tense. My hands clenching in tightly. Did not want the elves take away my One's most prized possession. I could tell Anya was also tense. She opened it to look, then she began to smile which kind of took me by surprise though.
Tauriel: "So this must be your family? They are a good looking people. This must be your father, he is very handsome. I can see the resemblance."
Anya: "Um, thank you, I guess."
Tauriel:(Closing the locket, stepping back)"Right then, keep it safe, family are very important in one's life."
Anya looked speechless at what she just said honestly, so was I. One of the guards confiscated my Orcrist handing it to Legolas. He held it to examine it closely.
Legolas:(Elvish)"The Orcrist, forged by the high elves of Gondolin. My kin."(He looked at me)"Where did you get this?"
Thorin: "It was given to me."
Legolas:(Pointing the Orcrist at me)"Not only are you a thief but a liar as well."
I kept my face stoic, not really caring about what he believes.
Anya: "He is telling the truth, it was given to him. I can vouch for him."
Both of us were staring at her, the elf with interest while I looked at her endearingly. For the first time she spoke for me, defending me. Legolas walked closer to her till he was centimetres apart, I tried to refrain myself from coming in between them. Yet I trust Anya, she can look after herself.
Legolas:(Smiling softly)"How intriguing, a human as bright as yourself is defending this greedy dwarf. Are you his friend or much more, Mellon?"
Not sure what that word meant but it sounded like an endearing word. I saw Anya's face flushing like she was about to say something. I placed my hand on her shoulder to calm her & she did, reluctantly.
Legolas: "Tie them up, bring them to the fortress for questioning."
I gritted my teeth as they bound our hands together with ropes. I most certainly did not like this one bit. But we were surrounded with hardly any chance of escape. Curse these elves. They started to usher us away, Bofur came near me whispering about Bilbo. By Great Durin, I completely forgot about him. Good thing he wasn't here though, yet I prayed for his safety. Within an hour we were led towards their fortress. I was dreading just thinking what might come next. We were crossing the bridge towards the entrance. I know that Anya was at the rear with Nori, I turned my head to look. Frowning, I saw that blond elf holding her back by gripping her arm. How dare he touch my woman. Even though I couldn't hear what they were saying, surprisingly Anya pulled herself free from him. She did look pretty much upset, what she said to him clearly baffled him. That's my girl. Once inside we were being led in a different direction while I was being taken somewhere else. I could guess to whom though, I turned to look at her. As she along with the others were being led to without a doubt. To the dungeons, my heart sank to my stomach just thinking about it. But she simply smiled at me, mouthing the words of reassurance. She was trying to be brave for my sake, right now a part of me wanted to simply run to her & hug her. The guards nudged me to move onwards, glancing back as the company were taken away. I was being taken to face him, the Elf King, the one who betrayed us all those years ago. Thranduil. Ugh, even his name sounded bitter on my tongue & mind. We arrive in his throne room & there he was, standing all tall & proud. Just like back in our glory days of Erebor. I couldn't help wondering whether this Legolas was his son? I was being shoved up the platform, I kept myself straight, showing them. The Prince of Erebor, Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror. I watch him as he slowly steps down from his throne & stood a few paces apart. He eyed me up & down critically, of course at present I was a mess, yet I held my head high.
Thranduil: "Thorin Oakenshield, it has been a while, no doubt. I must say I wasn't expecting our meeting like this after all these years. You, standing here before me bounded as a prisoner."
I refrained from answering him as he slowly circles around me once then stepping aside.
Thranduil: "I've heard many things about you & about your quest."
No doubt about that, if he knew then & yet he remains inside his palace.
Thranduil: "Some say a noble quest is at hand, a quest to reclaim a homeland & to slay a dragon. I, myself suspect a more prosaic motive. An attempted burglary or something of that ilk."
He came to stand next to me, I could feel him staring at me but I refused to look at him.
Thranduil: "You have found a way in. You wish to seek that which would bestow upon you the right to rule. The King's jewel, the Arkenstone. It is precious to you beyond any measure."
I cursed him silently for his accurate guess. At that moment I look at him as he moves back towards his throne.
Thranduil: "I understand that. There are gems in that mountain which I too desire. White gems of pure starlight."
That made me frown a bit, I do remember such gems. It was a long time ago, those gems were confiscated by my grandfather. My father, Balin & a few other nobles were present as well. Thranduil was pretty upset about it & he stormed out of the mountain. I was confused of course, my grandfather then left to be alone. I remember vaguely another person there, a tall man, he had shoulder length long hair. His face looked sad as he turns to look at me. His eyes looked familiar. That made me jolt back to reality.
Thranduil:(Bowing his head slightly)"I offer you my help."
Thorin:(Smirking)"I am listening!"
Thranduil: "I will let you go if you return what is mine."
Amused yet I snorted slightly as I turn my back to him.
Thorin:(Grumbling)"A favor for a favor?"
Thranduil: "You have my word. From one King to another."
Yeah right! I scoffed, his word, indeed! Never ever, made that mistake once before, never again.
Thorin: "I would not trust, Thranduil, the great King. To honor his word, even if the last days are upon us!"(I turn, pointing my finger at him)" YOU! Who lack all honor! I've seen how you've treated your friends. We came to you once, homeless, starving & seeking your help. But you turned your back to us. You turned your back on the suffering of my people & the inferno that destroyed us. 'Dur ul Isuldur!'"
I snapped at him speaking in my native language, within seconds his face was mere inches apart of mine. What the...!
Thranduil:(Growling low)"Do not talk to me about dragon fire. I know it's wrath & ruin."
Suddenly, as if by magic, half of his face turns distorted then back to normal.
Thranduil: "I have faced the serpents of the North."
