How long I was able to sleep only Mahal knows, when I hear that familiar cry again. Before that I was dreaming of this certain beautiful & wonderful maiden who was my One. 'Hmmph'. There it was again? I sat up bolt upright because it sounded much closer but what is it? Where is it coming from? An animal or a person in so much pain? Frowning, I looked around me, everyone was fast asleep including the hobbit. I huffed lightly, this was getting a bit irritating. I looked at the small wooden crate which Anya was using to sleep in. Again, that sound but this time much quieter & close. Wait, could it be? I shook my head, slowly I stood up to check, just to clear my doubts. It came from somewhere near Anya's sleeping spot. Stepping carefully over the others I went nearer. I frowned as it sounded even nearer, I halted for a moment though. Curiosity was getting to me as I stepped further. I leaned over, craning my neck slightly, part of me kept nagging me to back off. For Anya was sleeping here but what about that sound? It came from somewhere near here. Taking my chances I looked over but what I saw just gave me the biggest shock of my life. That whimpering sound came from none other than her, Anya Hadin. What in Durin's name is going on? Meaning, that for the past few days it was her, she was in pain? But what was even more shocking was her present condition. Her body was twitching oddly almost as if she was trapped. But her eyes were closed then it dawned on me that she was dreaming. As if she was trapped in some kind of a dream, a nightmare it seems & she was either trying to fight or was in pain. So this means that it was her & all because of her nightmare. Suddenly her body begins to jolt, by Durin, she was trying to fight. She was in agony, but during most of our journey she would be sleeping peacefully. A few times she even volunteered to take the first watch at night. Now ever since this incident against Azog, since then I've been hearing these sounds. Before I could ponder I heard a noise, I sat on my heels & waited. A tall man entered the house, could this be the skin-changer? I looked back at the girl, her condition was getting erratic. Quickly, I placed my hand over her mouth, to keep her quiet. But, thank Durin, he didn't notice just left. Sighing with relief, I turned my attention back to Anya. Her body began to jolt about, as if still fighting in her dream. No choice, I had to do something, for I could tell that she was helpless. I leaned forward grabbing her wrists, I sat astride her lower body, to hold her down. I pressed further, even though I managed to suppress her but she was still in her dream. She was struggling, I leaned down closer to her.
Thorin:(Whispering in her ear)"Anya, wake up, my love, wake up! It is me, Thorin. You're in a bad dream. I'm here, Azyûngal, I'm here. Please, wake up."
I felt her jolt slightly beneath me, her muscles getting tense. I looked up, my face inches from hers. Relieved to see her eyes open, her breathing was heavy, yet I could see anguish clouded in her beautiful eyes. She looked about her surroundings as if wanting to see where she was. Her eyes were huge when she looked at me, I could feel my cheeks burn slightly at this compromising position we were in. But she didn't say anything just released her breathing, slowly. Her body slumped underneath me, meaning she was recovering. Reluctantly, I released her wrists, no point in holding her now, I moved away from her. Yet I stayed there to keep her company. She closed her eyes by covering her face with her hands. I could tell that this dream of hers really shook her, badly. Only God knows what she has been going through. I touched her soft hair, stroking it gently, placing my other hand on her stomach. I removed some hair clinging to her slightly wet forehead then gently placed a kiss there. Her skin felt cold at first, then I could feel warmth beneath my hand which was on her stomach. My heart went out to this sweet girl.
Thorin: "Everything is fine now, my love, you have nothing to fear. It was just a dream."
My fingers gently touched her cheek, which was wet due to her tears. She then lowered her hands to look at me. She looked as if seeing me for the first time. Yet there was softness & tenderness in her eyes. This made me smile, melting my heart. She raised her hand to touch my cheek, it made my heart beat faster. I placed my hand gently on hers, turning to kiss her soft palm. I gazed into her golden orbs which was glowing under the moonlight coming through the window.
Anya:(Sniffing)"I'm so sorry, Thorin. I did not mean to alarm you or anything, its just...!"
Thorin:(Placing my finger on her lips)"Don't, my love, there is no need to apologise. I had to be here for you, Anya, to protect you. You are my One, Anya & no matter what I shall always be by your side."
I placed her hand on my chest where my heart was. I saw tears gathering in her eyes, then she pressed herself against my chest, her hands were gripping my shirt tightly. Impulsively I wrapped my arms around her warmly, pulling her closer. She buried her face against my chest. Then she broke down, her body began to tremble, this was her fragile state, her vulnerability & she needed me.
Anya:(Trembling slightly)"Oh, Thorin, I don't know w...what came over me...I'm afraid...!"
I pulled her even closer, kissing her hair, I began to gently rock us back & forth. I propped my chin on top of her head, squeezing her softly.
Thorin:(Whispering)"No need to be sorry, Azyûngal. I would never judge you, the same way you did to me. After what happened to me against Azog? Its alright, just let it go, my love. Just let it all out, it would ease your pain. I'm here for you."
We stayed this way a while longer in each other's arms. I let my fingers comb through her thick long hair. Her black hair was as exactly as I imagined they would be. So soft like silk between my fingers as I went deeper. Then I began to hum softly, just to soothe her & eventually she became quiet. I was glad to be here for her, this beautiful spirited girl, my beloved, my One. But there are few questions I needed to know & she knows them. I wanted her to trust me, to tell me everything.
Thorin:(Sighing)"Anya, if it is not too inconvenient, can I ask you something?"
She raised her head to look at me, wiping her tears. I shifted my hands to hold her shoulders, so we could see each other.
Anya:(Sniffling)"Of course, Thorin. What is it you would like to know?"
Thorin: "Tell me what exactly happened that night, during the orc's ambush on your family. No, Gandalf, didn't tell me anything, Anya. I want to hear it from you, clearly there is something else."
She bit her lip, bowing her head. I kept looking at her then my mind began to wander. Then I remembered the dream I had a few days ago. That little girl who was Anya, how fragile she looked then. Her eyes huge with fear & loss. In my dream she knew me very well, the way she was hugging me. It all seemed real as if I was there. Then I stared at her bowed head, realizing the inevitable. She knew about him & about me, my past? Hopefully I was mistaken yet I gently shook her.
Thorin:(Gruffily)"Was it him, Anya? Was it, Azog the Defiler, who had slain your family?"
Shaking slightly, she slowly nodded her head & I  squeezed her shoulders slightly, touching our foreheads. By Mahal, we have a common enemy & Gandalf knew back then? Unlike me, she was the victim but like me she had witnessed her loved ones demise by that filth. Which means she had to come face to face with her tormentor. She had lost everything because of that filth.
