I remember the first day my family and I arrived on the murky shores of southern England. We were escorted to the country house of Lady Catherine by horse guard and coach after abandoning ours on the outskirts of London. I was only 10 years old and barely trained in the art of defence when my family arrived at the castle of oppression.
My mother was English but my father, my sister and I were born and bred German and didn't speak much English. So she had to do most of the initial talking, but it didn't take long for us to learn the basics of English. And by the time I was 12, I had mastered the English language and focused on helping teach my younger sister as well as our other studies. Just before my 13th birthday, my sister and I began training for slaying the zombie creatures, and I had no idea Fitzwilliam was so good at it all the time, so I allowed him to tutor me for all those years until I was able to drop him in an instant.
Lady Catherine and her husband were so kind to us for those first few years, but when Sir Lewis de Bourgh passed away during the battle of Kent, she became mostly disrespectful to me, but idolised my younger sister who just happened to be the same age as he own daughter Anne.
For many years I put up with Lady Catherine's nonsense. But when I was 17 and Fitzwilliam was almost 18, our lives were changed forever.
