Dean stared at the wheelchair.
"No." he stated simply. Sam stared back at his brother, then he signed something. Dean only caught a few words, wheelchair, nurse, please, Dean, and good. Great Sam is better at sign language and I'm the deaf one. But didn't he have a class or something in college?

Dean shook his head stubbornly. Then Cas handed him a piece of paper. He angrily grabbed it from his hands. Dean you need to use the wheel chair for now until your back and ribs heal then you can use the crutches until your fully healed. Dean grabbed a pen and wrote down, I know but why do I need to use its right now?  Then handed the paper back to Cas, he read it quickly, wrote something down and handed it back to Dean. We are taking you around the Park and the pond to get some fresh air. Dean turned to Cas and replied.
"I don't need no damn fresh air. I'm fine with my ass staying in here, inside, until it's time to go home."

Cas gave him a disapproving look and signed slowly. "Yes you do. Your going." Dean looked at Sam for help, refusing to get in that wheelchair, but was only greeted with another stern face. Dean sighed realizing it was hopeless and signed fine.

The nurse smiled at him and walked over to him. She tried instructing him on how to sit up and get in the chair, but Dean became confused very quickly. Damn I missing hearing it makes everything less complicated. They ended up writing it down for him.

They helped Dean get into the wheelchair, he yelled a few times from the pain. Once he was settled in the wheelchair he groaned and rubbed his face, letting out a small yelp remembering the burn that was still there. The nurse looked down at him and then pulled out a container of ointment and leaned down to put it on his burns. When she went to go touch his face he pulled back. It's OK. She mouthed. He nodded and let her rub the cream on his face. Once the cool substance touched his burn he let out a small whimper of pain. Then she finished applying it to the more severe and accessible burns. She signed that she'd do the rest later.

The nurse grabbed a blanket and went to drape it over his shoulders, but Dean struggled against her attempts. Cas and Sam were giving him stern looks. Sam walked over to his brother and signed, it or no pie. No pie! He can't be serious!?  Dean looked up at his little brother and saw that he was completely serious, so he finally gave in.

The blanket know draped over his shoulders and one on his lap, they began walking, Dean being steered by Sam.

Great I'm being treated like a fucking baby. Oh look at baby Dean. Let's get him in his 'wittle' chair and lets bundle him up! I'm fucking deaf, not a child! I can't believe them. And no pie? How dare Sam threaten to take away my pie!

Dean was brought off his rant once they reached the pond. Sam parked him next to a bench while he and Cas sat down next to him.  It was beautiful, it was noon so the sun glinted off the pond.

Dean watched cheerfully as some ducklings followed their mother around the pond, quaking merrily, or at least it looked that way. Dean's mood suddenly changed from happy to angry. As he watched the ducks swim around,  their beaks moving but no sound coming out. He looked around him.

The trees should be rustling, the children at the swings should be laughing, that baby should be crying, and the cars should be making sound as they drive by. They are I'm just to damaged to hear it all. The trees are rustling, the kids are laughing, that baby is crying, the cars are making sounds. I just can't hear them.

Dean balled his hand into a fist clutching the blanket. He looked over as his brother and Cas who were having a conversation.

I won't be able to hear their voices again. I won't be able to hear the pur of baby's engine when I start her up. Will I be able to drive now?  I won't here AC/DC or Led Zeppelin anymore. I won't be able to hear anything. I won't be able to hunt. I'm worthless now. Completely and utterly worthless. They one thing I was good at is now taken from me. My life is going to be silent now. I'm going to die alone, my only friend being the silence that now surrounds me.

Alone.

Forever.

Silence.

Cas looked over to see Dean all tensed up. He stopped listening to what Sam was saying and got up, walking over to the oldest Winchester.

He could now see he was crying. Sam dropped his look of confusion once he saw were Cas had gone and stood up too.

"Dean." Cas said, quickly realizing that Dean couldn't hear him. He reached his hand out to touch his shoulder, he jumped slightly at the touch, but he remained in his slouched position.

Cas looked up at Sam, worriedly, seeing that he had a similar expression plastered on his face. He looked back down at Dean and shook him, finally he looked up at him. His normally beautiful green eyes, that were full of life were now more broken looking than ever, looking like shattered glass, tears were streaming down from them, leaving stains on his cheeks. "Are you okay?" he asked, then remembering that he couldn't hear him quickly asked again in sign language. Dean looked back down at his fist that was clenched around the blanket that lay across his lap.

Cas removed his hand from the man's shoulder and stared at him blankly. He didn't know what to do. Sam leaned in and tentatively hugged his brother, Dean pushed him off, glaring at him, then he finally spoke."I'm not a damn child!" he screamed, his voice cracking towards the end. They stared at him,  bewildered.

Is that seriously what he thinks? We just care about him that's all! The angel grew furious and stood up, Dean looking up at him noticing the sudden motion. "I can't believe you!"he screamed not caring that he couldn't hear a single word he was saying, knowing Sam would tell him later."We care about you Dean!  We don't think your a child!"he felt a fire burning within him begging to be released. "You're just injured and we are trying to help, to make your life easier but your too damn stubborn to accept it!"

And with that he stormed off, leaving a very startled looking Sam and Dean behind. He didn't know where he was going, and quite frankly he didn't care, so he continued walking. He walked away from the hospital and turned down a street towards the plaza.

Cas walked down the sidewalk and could feel the fire inside him start to die, instead being replaced with a low grumble. He looked around and found a sandwich shop, and licked his lips. He reached his hand into his trenchcoat pocket, finding a wad of money the Winchester brothers had given him, and smiled, then he crossed the street to the sandwich shop.

A bell rang when he pushed open the door to the small shop. It was slightly crowded but not to bad. Cas walked up to the counter and looked as the menu. Oh man, they have burgers and peanut butter and jelly. My two favorite sandwiches. Which one should I get? Maybe both? I'm not hungry enough to eat both. Ugh this is such an important decision. You know what don't think just pick. Peanut butter and jelly! Now I feel as though the cheeseburger is left out, oh well I'll get it next time.

"What would you like sir? " a nice lady asked.
"Um, I'll like a pb&j."
"Will that be all?"she asked kindly. Cas was about to say yes but as a last minute decision decided to get Sam and Dean something as well.
"Actually can I have a salad, a baconator with extra onion, a side of fries, and three waters."
"Sure thing. Will that be all? " she replied, nodding her head while typing something into the machine.
"Yes, that'll be it- wait no, do you have pie?" he asked. The lady smiled at him.
"We sure do, we have cherry, apple and pecan."
"Uh, pecan." he said remembering Dean saying something about pecan being one of his favorites.
"OK, that'll be 25 bucks." Cas stopped reaching for the wad of cash in the pocket of his trenchcoat.
"Uh, I don't have any bucks. I have money though. Will that work?" he said suddenly becoming worried. The lady smiled back at him.
"Yeah." he nodded pulling out the correct amount of money to hand her.

He walked out of the small sandwich shop, bags in hand. He turned down an alleyway to get to the hospital faster. He walked in peace, until he heard something, he turned slowly reaching for his angel blade,  but was greeted with the barrel of a gun, then there was a click sound as the person cocked the pistol.
