While Cas and Sam were off shopping Dean was sitting in his room, leafing through a car magazine when he started to drift off into his own thoughts. He began to think about the day they came back home to the bunker after he had been released from the hospital. He remembered baby starting up, he could feel it but he couldn't hear the pur of her engine. He remembers all the conversation Cas and Sam have been having lately and him not being able to hear a damn thing. How he and Cas would watch movies and he couldn't here the movie or Cas talking. How he could never hear when people enter a room, or listen to music. He couldn't even hear his damn voice!  Anger began to rush through him. He couldn't even help his little brother on a hunt! I'm useless! He told himself.

He jumped up off his bed, anger coursing through his veins. He hobbled over to his radio, not even bothering with the crutches ignoring the pain and turned the volume all the way up, desperately trying to hear something. When he couldn't hear anything he began to scream at himself trying to hear even the faintest of sounds. Nothing. He knocked the lamp off his table. He continued to make silent noise throughout the room. Throwing things, screaming, punching the walls, but still nothing. He leaned his head against the wall as he slid down onto the floor. He pulled his knees to his chest and tucking his head into his arms, letting the tears of anger then pity fall from his eyes. He felt a cold hand touch his bare forearm.

He looked up to see Cas's blue eyes filled with worry. The anger came back all at once, he didn't really understand why, it just did. He stood up, pain immediately rushed through his leg, but it began to dull as the rage washed over him. He was screaming at the top of his lungs at Cas, he couldn't hear a word he said, which made him only more angry. Finally he had Cas cornered, he seem terrified, of him. Something snapped inside of Dean. All of the emotions seemed to just cave in around him, he began to cry clutching onto Cas like a lifeline.

He could feel Cas's hands on his back as he cried into his friends shirt. He tried hard not to cry in front of people, or at all but he couldn't hold it back. He collapsed onto the floor, Cas followed him still rubbing his hands on his back. The touch comforted him, he leaned into it a bit. There was suddenly another pair of hands on his shoulder. Sam. He thought. He didn't look up, not wanting his brother to see him like this, it was bad enough Cas had. Suddenly the hands left as Cas's hands changed position to under his arms. Cas heaved him up off the ground and onto his bed.

Dean looked up at him as the tears stop falling from his eyes. Cas was looking down at him with a worried smile. He patted his arm reassuringly as he pulled the blanket up over him, then stood up. Dean sat up a bit to see Cas picking up his room. Once he was done he went to go leave as a last minute thought Dean called out "Wait." At least he hoped he did. Once Cas stopped he realised Cas heard him even if he didn't. Dean worked up the courage to say the next words. "Stay, please." Cas seemed to brighten at his words. He walked over and sat at the end of his bed, smiling at Dean, you could still see the worry in his eyes.

"I'm sorry." He muttered. Cas did that cute little head tilt he did when he was confused. Dean looked away from him, staring at the blank wall instead. "I shouldn't have yelled at you." He whispered a tear catching at the corner of his eye. Cas gingerly touched his chin, turning his face to look at him. Dean looked into those startling blue eyes then at his lips. He mouthed it's ok. Dean shook his head, Cas gave him a stern look and Dean didn't argue anymore. Dean looked back down at his lips, he had the sudden urge to kiss him, he leaned forward but stopped his face hovering mere inches from the fallen Angel, who in his books was still an Angel, before pulling away, closing his eyes.

He took a shakey breath, he almost kissed his best friend. I can't do that!  He thought. He finally laid down and drifted off to what would probably be another restless night's sleep.

Cas watched as Dean fell asleep. Did he almost kiss me? He wondered. No. Why would he do that? But still he leaned down and kissed Dean lightly on the forehead. He pulled back smirking to himself, he looked so peaceful. Cas eventually fell asleep at the foot of Deans bed.

Sam was pacing back in forth in front of the couch, thinking about what had happened. He had walked in from parking the car to hear screaming. He ran up to Dean's room to find it destroyed, he looked over in the corner to see Dean leaning up against Cas crying, almost full on sobs. He looked up at Cas before they both looked back down at his brother. Dean then collapsed onto the ground with a thud Cas knelt down next to him soothing him somewhat. Sam walked over to his brother and placed his hand on his shoulder. Dean tensed up under the touch but made no movement to look up and see who it was.

Sam looked up at Cas worriedly, he went to go speak but Cas beat him to it.
"I got him, you go take care of the groceries." Sam was a bit reluctant to leave Dean but he figured he'd want Cas instead of him since they have this 'thing' going on.

He sat down on the couch with a beer in his hand as he looked through the news for a new case or a hint of where Metatron was, nothing. He grew impatient waiting for Cas to come back downstairs or at least head to his own room. It had been two hours. He opened the door to Deans room to find Dean sitting upright covering Cas with an extra blanket, who was laying at the foot of his bed. Dean then gently brushed the hair out of Cas's eyes, a smile playing across his lips. He sat there for a little bit staring at Cas before he laid back down. He didn't notice Sam. He closed his brothers door and crept back down the stairs. Yeah a 'thing'. He thought to himself.

He sat down at the table, his computer and books set up and a beer. He searched all night. He watched the news, just as he was about to give up for the night, a reflection in the mirror of the car caught his eye. He paused the clip and zoomed in on the mirror. And sure enough there was Metatron's reflection. He had found him. They were going to get Cas's Grace back! Things were finally stating to look up for them.
