Cas was enveloped an ice, his heart racing faster than a Cheetah, as he stared down the barrel of the gun. A talk muscular man dressed in all black was holding it, he had a mask over his face, only allowing him to see the green glint of his irises. They were a few shades darker than Dean's. The former angel let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding. After what seemed like a lifetime Cas finally finished reaching for his angel blade, but the man saw the movements and shouted "Don't!"

He took a shakey breathe before continuing "Just give me your money." Castiel glared an him, then lunged at him, his angel blade in hand. The was a loud bang and then a thud as the gun clattered to the ground. The man tried to reach for it but Cas kicked it out if the way,  holding his angel blade to the man's throat. Castiel let out a low growl as he whispered into the man's ear "Leave" pulling back the blade the man nodded and scampered away.

Cas let out a small groan as he stood up, the man had kicked him in the gut during the little showdown, and also punched him in the face, which would more than likely form a bruise. He brushed himself off and picked up the food, checking it, it wasn't  to baldly damaged but the pie was slightly smashed. He continued down the alley making a mental note of not going down one again if he could avoid it, at least not while he was human.

Once he reached the door to Dean's room he stood there for a minute. They're  probably going to be mad at me. What if they don't want me around anymore? I shouldn't have snapped like that. I only get like that with Dean. Why is that?

He took a deep breath and opened the door. Once he opened the door he was immediately greeted by Sam.
"We were so worried that you were going to disappear on us." he said frowning.
"You were?" he said furrowing his eyebrows"I'm sorry that I caused you trouble." Sam shook his head.
"It's fine I understand." then he looked down at the bags in his hands.
"Oh yeah I got us some food while I was out."
"OK cool." he said reaching for the bag. "I'm sure Dean will want to eat when he wakes up."

Cas looked over at the bed where Dean was sure enough, fast asleep, he looked peaceful. He looked back over to were Sam was and saw him sitting down. "Hey how'd you pay for this." Sam asked while popping open the lid of his salad and grabbing a fork.
"With the money you and Dean gave me a while back." he replied taking a seat next Sam.

He reached in the bag to grab his sandwich when Sam's voice stopped him. "What happened to your jaw." Sam asked worriedly.
"Oh, yes someone tried mugging me." he replied calmly.
"Wha- mug you? Are your okay? ' he asked.
"Yes I am fine." he replied grabbing his sandwich.
"Is the guy OK?"
"Yes he's fine as well." Cas said irritably. Sam dropped the subject.

They ate in silence and talked a little bit, mostly about Dean and how he reacted after Cas had left them, and when Sam told him what he had said.

Cas looked over at the sleeping form of Dean. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. It was his fault that Dean got hurt and he couldn't heal him, and now he was making him worry because he thought he was never coming back. He put his head in his hands and balled his fist into his hair. I'm such a fool.

The door creaked open, he looked up startled at the sudden noise. Dean's Doctor was standing in the door way. "May I speak with Mr. Brown?" she asked politely. Cas was confused at first then remembered that was Sam and Dean's alias. Sam stood up.
"I'll be back." he addressed Castiel. He nodded, then watched as Sam and the Doctor wandered out into the halls.

Cas stood up and walked over to the window, it was dark out now. He just stood there listening to the soft beat of the monitor that marked Dean's heart beat. Cas sighed. It was actually peaceful for a little bit. Suddenly the beeping of Dean's heat monitor started to increase. Cas whipped around to see Dean thrashing around in his bed,  with a film of sweat covering him, he was having a nightmare.

Cas rushed over to the man, normally if Dead had a nightmare Cas would just soothe him with his grace but he couldn't do that now, so he hesitantly reached his hand out to him before shaking him awake. Dean jolted awake and sat up right, wincing slightly, panting. His eyes were wide as he looked around, he seemed terrified. Cas reached out to him, to try to comfort him but Dean jumped away from his touch. The man turned to look at him his green eyes were piercingly bright in the dark. He seemed to relax once he realized who it was.

Cas walked back over to Dean and tried to push him back down onto his bed, but Dean refused, so instead Cas adjusted the bed for that way Dean could sit up. Cas pulled up a chair and sat next to Dean, staring at him, Dean was staring at him too. He seemed to be calm once again but soon if was replaced with one of worry. He leaned slightly closer to Castiel.

"What happened." he asked. He was confused at first then he realized that Dean was talking about the bruise on his jaw. Cas leaned over towards Dean and turned on the light next to his bed and grabbed the notepad and pen from the desk. He wrote down what happened and handed the paper back to Dean. He looked up at Cas in surprise as he finished reading what he said.
"Are you OK?" he asked, Cas nodded. Dean visibly relaxed at this.

They sat in a comfortable silence until Cas decided that Dean should try to get back to sleep. Dean argued, saying that he was hungry. Cas knew that was only part of the truth, he knew that Dean didn't want to go back to his slumber afraid of whatever it was that he had dreamed about, but Cas decided it best not to argue or pry.

He stood up and walked over to the bag of food that he had bought earlier for Dean. He adjusted the tray for Dean and set the food down. Dean hungrily licked his lips as he opens the bag. A huge smile spread across his face when he pulled out the pie.
"You remembered the pie!" he nearly squealed. Cas nodded.
"And it's pecan!" Cas smiled.

He watched as the Winchester shoved the burger into his mouth moaning slightly, then moving on to the pie, stopping to take a few sips of his water. Once he finished he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
"Thanks man." Dean mumbled. Cas nodded.
"Anytime, Dean." Dean smiled clearly understanding what he said.

The door opened and Sam walked in, he looked over at his brother and Cas and smiled. He pulled up a chair and sat on the other side of Dean. They talked for a while, trying to include Dean into the conversation. Eventually Dean drifted off to sleep. Shortly afterwards Cas and Sam followed.

Dean had just pretend to fall asleep, he didn't want to be a part of the conversation anymore. Once he thought that Sam and Cas had gone to sleep, he dared to open his eyes. He saw his brother and Cas asleep. Sam was on the couch again and Cas in the chair. He watched them sleep for a while until memories of his nightmare came back to him.

He could here John's voice yelling at him too man up. He could here his mom saying that everyone leaves him, Sammy telling him that he doesn't care about him, and he's just using him, and Cas saying he just using him as a shelter for right now and now that he realized he was useless he didn't need him anymore. He even had some memories from Hell and Purgatory. He let a tear slip down his face, thinking to himself that the only voices he will hear anymore will be the ones that torture him at night.
