Writer's P.O.V:

Emma Swan was a stubborn woman. A very stubborn woman. And when a stubborn woman such as herself makes a decision she follows through with it.

February second, 9:00 am on a cold Tuesday morning, Emma Swan made a decision.

She awoke before Killian, only by a couple minutes, but nevertheless felt an unexpected relief.

She realized... she really, really, didn't want Killian worrying about her back. He'd get overprotective and might even make her stop working at the bar. She loved him, protectiveness and all, but this time she'd made the choice to protect him and it was worth it. She wouldn't let him worry about her.

Her back still ached from the events of the night before, blood dried all over her skin, little pieces of glass still stuck here and there. She rose from the bed, careful not to wake Killian, and walked quietly to the bathroom. Once inside she slowly closed the door and turned her bare back to the mirror.

This wasn't good.

She did her best, picking out the remaining pieces of glass and rinsing away the blood. She could do nothing more without help. But who would she ask?

Emma sighed and opened the bathroom door quietly, heading back into hers and Killian's room. There she turned to her closet, searching through for something that wouldn't cling to her back too much.

Too tight, too transparent, oh god not that one, why do I even have this?!

These were the thoughts that went through Emma Swan's mind as her love started to stir behind her. She looked over her shoulder cautiously, setting her mind to hurry up and finding something to wear before Killian woke up.

Yes, Emma Swan was a stubborn woman indeed. Unfortunately, as stubborn as she may be, she cannot control time. And time was exactly what she didn't have.

Just as she pulled a loose shirt from its hanger, Killian awoke behind her feeling a massive hangover. However, a hangover didn't stop him from seeing Emma, and more importantly, her back.

"Emma? Emma love what happened? How did you get that?" he asked worriedly, throwing the sheets off his body the moment he saw her.

Emma cursed inside, trying to think up an excuse. She turned around, holding the shirt to her bare chest.

"Uh I dropped a bottle at the bar yesterday and... slipped in the glass. Fell on my back," she lied with a smile.

Killian studied her face carefully, reading her like the open book she was.

"No, no there's more to this than that, what aren't you telling me?" he asked her.

"Nothing, I'm fine. Do you remember anything from last night...?" Emma asked cautiously.

"No, actually... I remember going to have shots with those horrid guys but after that, it's all blank. Fill me in?"

"Oh. Well, you did the shots and you got pretty drunk and then those guys left. So I closed up and got you home," Emma said a bit too quickly.
