Killian's P.O.V:
"Emma? Emma!" I call, running along the edge of the beach. What was she thinking- coming to the beach in the middle of winter?! "Where are you Swan..." I mutter. I look along the snowy coastline, and there she is. I walk up form behind her and sit next to her.
"Hey."
"Hey," she answers quietly. "Shouldn't you be off with that girl from the bar?" She asks, not looking at me.
"Hey, look at me." She turn her head slowly towards me and I lift her chin up. "That girl was just some bitch looking for an easy way to a one-night stand. Her way was to kiss me and hope to get me to do who knows what with her. Trust me, Emma I want nothing to do with her."
There is a long tense silence.
"Why did you ask me to leave?" Emma asks quietly. I sigh, looking for away around the question.
"Asking you to leave my home was possibly the biggest mistake I've ever made."
"Took you long enough to realize."
"Well, I realize that now. That room... your things... they're yours- if you want them."
"And you're not messing with me, you mean that?"
"Aye."
I stare into her eyes and pull her lips softly to mine. She rests her head on my shoulder.
"Okay." She whispers. "Let's go home."
I smile and bring her into my arms, holding her warmly. I call Liam and explain the whole situation and he agrees to give us the night off. We'll work tomorrow. We drive home in silence- but it's not a bad one. More of a tired one. We arrive and in a way we just collapse onto the couch. Emma puts in her favorite Disney movie, Up, and curls up under a blanket beside me. Slowly but surely, she starts to drift off.
Halfway through the movie, she's already fallen asleep. I smile and carry her to her bed.
"Goodnight Emma."
The next morning:
I awake to a certain Swan shaking me gently.
"Killian, wake up, wake up!" I groan.
"Whattimeisit..." I mumble.
"It's 8:00 am just come on you have to see this!" I groan again, pulling a pillow over my head to block out her voice.
"Hey! Come on please?"
"AAAAGH fine. If the lady insists." I stand up groggily and get dressed as Emma says, then follow her downstairs and out the door.
"It's snowing! Haha! And it's not a blizzard, it's beautiful, just light little flakes!" She laughs joyfully. I smile and sneak up behind her, plopping a handful of snow down her back.
"AAH!! OH NO YOU DIDN'T I AM GONNA GET YOU FOR THAT!! WATCH OUT JONES!" She picks up a handful and throws it straight at me.
"Mmm big mistake Swan. You're gonna get it now."
"You started it!"
"What are you, five?" I ask with a laugh.
"Yes, yes I am," She replies with a smirk.
"Then I guess you won't mind if I do this!" I run over to her, pick her up and throw her over my shoulder, spinning around.
"Killian!!" She screams, laughing. "Put me down!!" She laughs.
"Alright, Alright." I set her down gently, and I'm caught by surprise when she presses her lips gently against mine. I kiss her back softly.
"Emma..." I say.
"Yeah?" She looks up into my eyes.
"I don't want to hurt you."
"Well... maybe that's a risk I'm willing to take," she looks up at me with new eyes. All those walls I've broken down have payed off. She's willing to take risks... but am I?
"But... Emma I'm not. I can't hurt you I- Emma wait!" She walks away with a hurt look in her eyes. Bloody hell Killian would you stop messing things up for once!
"Emma!"
She ignores me and keeps walking, back into the house.
"Little brother, when are you going to learn that it's okay to have feelings again," Liam says from behind me.
"Liam?! When did you get here?!"
"I was just dropping by to check in on Emma but you seem like you need to talk."
"Aye... I finally broke down some of Emma's walls, and she was finally willing to take a risk... and I tore down all of the progress she'd made. She took a risk and I denied her."
"Killian talk to her. Milah would want you to pursue this. Her. She'd want you to be happy. And if Emma is the way, then you should go for it."
"Aye, you're right. Thank you."
"Welcome little brother," Liam answers as he turns to leave.
"Younger brother!" I call after him.
With that, I head inside to talk to Emma. Instead, I find her in a coat, ready to leave.
"Where are you going?"
"Why do you care? Don't worry, I'll be back by 2:00 with lunch."
"Swan... I didn't mean what I said. I mean I did, I don't to hurt you, but that doesn't mean I don't care about you. I do. A lot."
"It doesn't matter okay, I'm over it. Now move out of my way."
"Emma wait, please, we need to talk," I say, grabbing her arm.
"You say you don't want to hurt me, what do you think you're doing right now?" She pulls her arm away, and with a look of confusion, gets into her car and drives off in the direction of the town square.
Job well done Killian. Job well done.
